TL;DR: Samsung's upcoming XR headset will feature ultra-high-resolution 3800 PPI 1.3-inch OLEDoS microdisplays sourced from Sony, surpassing Apple Vision Pro's 3391 PPI displays. This promises sharper visuals and text but with a reduced field of view. The headset is expected to be revealed on September 29 and released October 13.

Samsung's upcoming XR headset is rumored with ultra-high-end displays inside, with new reports suggesting we'll see ultra-sharp 3800 PPI OLEDoS displays inside, which would beat Apple's ambitious Vision Pro headset.

In a new report from South Korean media outlet TheElec, we're hearing that Samsung's new XR headset would feature 1.3-inch OLED on Silicon (OLEDoS) microdisplays, with around 3800 PPI, up against the 1.42-inch OLEDoS displays inside of the Apple Vision Pro (which it sources from Sony) and a pixel density of 3391 PPI.

Samsung will have smaller displays inside, but the higher pixel density of 3800 PPI will make for a mighty impressive visual experience when pitted against the Apple Vision Pro. Samsung's upcoming XR headset with its 3800 PPI display will feature higher visual clarity, sharper text, and more, but they'll have a downside: a reduced field of view (FOV).

Samsung makes its own displays, but even for its upcoming XR headset, the South Korean firm will be sourcing the high-end OLEDoS displays from Sony. But, Sony has limited its production capacity for microdisplay manufacturing, which is why it declined Apple's requests to expand its production for the Vision Pro.

We should expect Samsung to reveal its new XR headset on September 29, with a release on October 13, according to recent reports.
