Uber suspends self-driving car tech after Arizona crash
Uber has halted all of its self-driving car efforts after a self-driving car was involved in an accident in Tempe, Arizona - even though Uber's autonomous car wasn't at fault, as it was the human driver that caused the accident.
One of Uber's Volvo-made self-driving SUVs can be seen on its side, with an Uber spokesperson confirming the accident, and that the company is "suspending its autonomous tests in Arizona until it completes its investigation and pausing its Pittsburgh operations" reports Bloomberg. There were no injuries in the accident, with the police report stating that another car "failed to yield for the Uber car, causing the autonomous vehicle to flip on its side", reports Bloomberg.
Tempe police information officer Josie Montenegro said: "There was a person behind the wheel. It is uncertain at this time if they were controlling the vehicle at the time of the collision". An Uber spokesperson added that the company is "continuing to look into this incident and can confirm we had no backseat passengers in the vehicle".

Tesla owners are receiving some cutting edge technological features in their electric cars, with the company rolling out the first phase of its Enhanced Autopilot system.
The new Enhanced Autopilot initiative provides Tesla owners with some new abilities: Traffic Aware Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Autosteer. Musk tweeted over the weekend that the Autosteer feature will keep your car in the lane, but is capped to 45mph.
Autosteer works together with Traffic Aware Cruise Control "so the car can drive on highways in stop-and-go traffic", reports Business Insider. They continue: "Forward Collision Warning will alert drivers of a potential impact with an upcoming obstacle, but there is no emergency braking to actually stop the car, so the onus is on the driver".

First all-electric car ever to complete the Dakar rally
An all-electric car has completed one of the most difficult rallies in the world for the first time ever. The Dakar Rally is considered to be one of the most demanding races in and Acciona's car managed to complete it in its third attempt.
This is a huge success for Acciona and electric cars in general cause it proves that the electric cars are just as capable as gas-driven vehicles in grueling environments.
Acciona's car wasn't so successful in the first two attempts when it failed to finish the race, but the third time proved to be the charm. The car managed to drive nearly 9000 km (5,600 miles) across Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay and it became "the first of 18,000 vehicles in the history of the Dakar Rally to complete the event without consuming a drop of fuel or emitting a single molecule of CO2."
