Epic Games is facing union action from SAG-AFTRA due to Fortnite's recent introduction of an AI-powered Darth Vader, which delivers voice lines based on archived recordings of James Earl Jones.

Epic Games faces union complaint due to Fortnite's AI-powered Darth Vader

The complaint, which was filed May 19, takes aim at the AI-powered performance. Not specifically due to its use of AI, but because the union's collective bargaining agreement outlines that performances involving deceased members must be notified or negotiated directly with the union.

Baldurs Gate 3 had a 'cartoony' artstyle before shifting gears 'at least twice'

Ille Smolanko | Gaming | May 20, 2025 9:42 AM CDT

According to Baldur's Gate 3 director Alena Dubrovina, Baldur's Gate 3 went through several iterations before landing on its blended photo-realistic aesthetic. Originally, the game had a 'cartoony' art style, and it wasn't exactly early in pre-production that this direction was scrapped.

Speaking on the AnsweRED Podcast, Dubrovina sat down with CD Projekt Red game director Sebastian Kalemba to discuss the role of art direction in major game projects. According to Dubrovina, the creative process for Baldur's Gate 3 was a turbulent one - with the studio shifting gears multiple times before landing on a final aesthetic.

Borderlands games are being review bombed due to EULA, privacy concerns

Ille Smolanko | Gaming | May 20, 2025 8:39 AM CDT

The Borderlands franchise has been the latest subject of community backlash, with negative reviews bombarding the games' Steam listings due to recent changes to the End User License Agreement (EULA).

Borderlands games are being review bombed due to EULA, privacy concerns

As widely publicised on Reddit, the review-bombing campaign began in response to the updated EULA, which reportedly grants Take-Two "root level access to users' systems, under the guise of anti-cheat software". As a result, users are concerned that sensitive information like passwords, IP addresses, and login details are being unfairly collected.

In addition to privacy concerns, the new agreement also raised fears in the game's modding community, with many users citing that targeting third-party applications could introduce unnecessary limitations to legitimate gameplay modifications.

ZOTAC has created the world's smallest GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB PC

Kosta Andreadis | Computer Systems | May 20, 2025 7:24 AM CDT

With modern AMD APUs with RDNA 3 and RDNA 3.5 graphics, gaming on a Mini PC has become more viable on compact, palm-sized systems. Go a little bigger, and you can find small SFF PCs with mobile versions of GeForce RTX 40 and now 50 Series GPUs. As great as the performance can be on these systems, there's still no substitute for a desktop GPU doing its thing to deliver a smooth and visually impressive PC gaming experience.

ZOTAC has created the world's smallest GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB PC

This is where ZOTAC's new ZBOX MAGNUS EN75060TC enters the picture, as it's the smallest PC featuring a desktop GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics card. Paired with a high-end Intel Core Ultra 7 mobile processor, the AI workstation and productivity capabilities offer a big step up over what's possible with a Mini PC, even one with the most powerful APU on the market.

However, the moment I saw ZOTAC ZBOX MAGNUS EN75060TC at Computex 2025, my initial reaction was to see it as the sort of PC you'd easily fit underneath or next to a big-screen TV. With its 2.65-liter form factor, it's significantly smaller than the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. With the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, it's more powerful, too.

InWin unveils the magic-imbued ChronoMancy PC chassis, comes with a real wand

Jak Connor | Cases, Cooling & PSU | May 20, 2025 7:02 AM CDT

InWin is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the unveiling of the ChronoMancy PC chassis at Computex 2025, with the new limited-edition case having "magic" coursing through its veins.

InWin unveils the magic-imbued ChronoMancy PC chassis, comes with a real wand

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, InWin has shown off an extremely limited-edition PC chassis called the ChronoMancy. The design of this unique PC chassis is trophy and time-capsule inspired to commemorate the time and achievements InWin has made throughout its existence as a company. The chassis features the designs of the company's most successful cases, which are embedded within the plastic at the top of the case. In addition to the best of the best InWin cases being present, InWin has also placed its headquarters within the plastic to pay further homage to how far they have come as a company.

It wouldn't be a special edition chassis with something special, and while most would think the physical design of the chassis is enough to warrant the "special" description, InWin didn't stop there with its uniqueness, as the ChronoMancy is imbued with "magic". InWin has paired the ChronoMancy with a magic wand, which can be used to open and close the case. Buyers will be able to press the button on the magic wand, wait for the end to go purple, and then swipe left or right to open/close the chassis.

Phison breaks Windows kernel with mind-bending 113GB/sec reads using 32 x E28 Gen5 SSDs

Anthony Garreffa | Storage | May 20, 2025 6:51 AM CDT

Phison teased its new E28 Gen5 SSD at Computex 2025, with a single drive pushing up to 14.8GB/sec reads, but the company used 32 of them inside of a Gen5 AIC card and pushing -- and yeah, wait for this -- 113GB/sec (that's 113,000MB/sec).

Phison breaks Windows kernel with mind-bending 113GB/sec reads using 32 x E28 Gen5 SSDs

A single Phison E28-based SSD will pump 14.8GB/sec, but the company installed 32 x Phison E28 Gen5 SSDs across 3 separate Apex Storage X16 Gen5 AICs in a high-end workstation PC running an ASUS PRO WS WRX90E-SAGE SE motherboard using an AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX processor.

Once installed, those 32 x Phison E28 Gen5 SSDs were pumping speeds so fast that the company was actually hitting the absolute limits of the Windows kernel itself, with maxed-out speeds reaching 113GB/sec (or 113,601MB/sec to be exact) reads, and an equally as impressive 104GB/sec (or 104,628MB/sec to be exact) for writes. Mix loads saw an even more impressive 146GB/sec (or 146,454MB/sec to be exact).

Phison's new PS5028-E28 Gen5 SSD silences the competition: 14.9GB/sec reads, sips just 7W power

Anthony Garreffa | Storage | May 20, 2025 6:42 AM CDT

Phison had an astonishing new PS5028-E28 Gen5 SSD in the flesh at Computex 2025, pushing up to 14.9GB/sec in bursts, but a guaranteed 14.8GB/sec reads... and better yet: silently, and just sipping 7W while doing it.

Phison's new PS5028-E28 Gen5 SSD silences the competition: 14.9GB/sec reads, sips just 7W power

The new Phison E28 Gen5 SSD controller is fabbed on the TSMC 6nm process node, with 8-channel with 32 CEs, and capacities of up to a gigantic 32TB. We've got a quad-CPU architecture, support for 3D TLC, the Phison 8th Gen LDPC and RAID ECC, and falls into the M.2 2280 form factor.

ZOTAC created a Steam Deck 2 with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Linux

Kosta Andreadis | Gaming | May 20, 2025 6:27 AM CDT

At Computex 2025, ZOTAC is showcasing what it's currently calling a 'Gaming Handheld Prototype.' After speaking with the team and reviewing the physical design, I realized that the company is creating what you could refer to as an unofficial Steam Deck 2 - the OLED model.

ZOTAC created a Steam Deck 2 with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Linux

Let's start with the mobile AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, commonly found in laptops. The prototype doesn't feature the Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip because AMD's latest gaming handheld chip is hard to come by and currently limited to a handful of partners. The gaming performance should be identical, as the AI 9 HX 370 features the same Radeon 890M GPU as the Z2 Extreme, often referred to as Strix Point.

The Steam Deck 2 picture takes shape when you look at the custom version of the gaming-focused Manjaro Linux OS.

GIGABYTE's new DriverBIOS feature unleashed on its refreshed AORUS ICE mobos at Computex 2025

Chris Szewczyk | Motherboards | May 20, 2025 6:04 AM CDT

GIGABYTE has introduced a very user-friendly new feature to a selection of its refreshed AORUS ICE motherboards at Computex 2025. The DriverBIOS feature of the new boards features an integrated WIFI driver directly into the BIOS that eliminates a time-consuming hassle if Windows does not install a driver upon completing a fresh Windows installation.

GIGABYTE's new DriverBIOS feature unleashed on its refreshed AORUS ICE mobos at Computex 2025

Obviously, you need access to the internet to download a driver, yet you often need a driver to access the internet. That's a chicken and egg scenario that GIGABYTE just made a lot less relevant.

The driver makes use of Microsoft's WPBT (Windows Platform Binary Table), which is a feature that allows systems to run executable programs directly from a UEFI BIOS. The idea is that users are able to access the internet from the first boot, without having to manually install a driver.

ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG spotted at Computex 2025 in all its 500Hz glory

Jak Connor | Displays | May 20, 2025 5:51 AM CDT

ASUS has unveiled the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG at Computex 2025, a new 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor with a stunning 500Hz refresh rate.

ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG spotted at Computex 2025 in all its 500Hz glory

Computex 2025 is officially underway, and ASUS has showcased its latest in QD-OLED panel technology with the unveiling of the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG, a gaming monitor that now joins only a few other companies in the newly formed category of 500Hz QD-OLED panels. For those who don't know, the new 500Hz QD-OLED panels are sourced from Samsung and are the latest in QD-OLED panel technology, making the XG27AQDPG the bleeding-edge of gaming monitor technology. The XG27AQDPG is a 27-inch monitor that sports a 2560 x 1440p (QHD) resolution, 0.03ms (GtG) response time, and a suite of OLED care features for those concerned about the problem of burn-in.

One of the newest additions to ASUS's suite of OLED care features is the Neo Proximity Sensor, which is an infrared scanner that can be placed into Tailored Mode to measure the distance a user is away from the display. Once that distance is set, it's saved to the monitor, and when the user exceeds this set distance, such as getting up from the desk and walking away from the PC, the monitor will automatically dim the display. The idea behind this feature is to reduce the amount of time the pixels are fully lit, which, in turn, reduces the likelihood of burn-in occurring.

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | May 20, 2025 5:32 AM CDT

At Computex 2025, ZOTAC showcased a prototype of its new flagship GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU - the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5090 ArcticStorm AIO. With liquid cooling, it will ship with the fastest out-of-the-box overclocked specs for the company's entire range of RTX 5090 GPUs, making it the fastest ZOTAC GAMING GPU ever made. The version we saw up close was a prototype; however, the physical design itself is finalized.

The company is also planning to release its flagship GeForce RTX 5090 AIO card sometime in Q3 2025, though no specific release date or price is available at this time. Naturally, this will be the most expensive GPU in ZOTAC GAMING's line-up, with the company referring to it as the "crown jewel" of its Computex 2025 GPU showcase.

I played DOOM: The Dark Ages at 600+FPS thanks to ASUS's new gaming monitor

Jak Connor | Displays | May 20, 2025 5:19 AM CDT

Computex 2025 has officially kicked off, and ASUS has let me go hands-on with the ROG Strix ACE XG248QSG, the world's fastest eSports gaming monitor.

I played DOOM: The Dark Ages at 600+FPS thanks to ASUS's new gaming monitor

ASUS had the new monitor on display at the company's booth at Computex 2025, located in Taiwan, and the monitor, which I was previewed a day earlier, was this time loaded up with DOOM: The Dark Ages, a great title to showcase this blisteringly-fast refresh rate. The ROG Strix ACE XG248QSG is a SuperTN with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, meaning the image clarity wasn't the greatest, but that isn't the main focus of the display. ASUS is aiming the ROG Strix ACE XG248QSG directly at competitive gamers, who typically only care about how many frames they are able to produce on their display.

The XG248QSG didn't disappoint in this regard, with the PC hooked up to the display being able to push DOOM: The Dark Ages to the desired 610Hz. The game felt incredibly smooth, smoother than almost any other display I have been lucky enough to test throughout my time reviewing what is now dozens of gaming monitors. The quick first impressions I had on the monitor are as follows: buttery smooth frame rate, very nice ASUS-style design that aligns with their other gaming monitors, but very average visuals.

COLORFUL's impressive custom 'Space Capsule' PC, DOOM-themed RTX 5080, and more

Kosta Andreadis | Cases, Cooling & PSU | May 20, 2025 1:03 AM CDT

Computex 2025 is a fantastic event for seeing custom designs, mods, and things that might or might not make it to market someday. As one of the biggest hardware brands for PC gaming in Asia, COLORFUL is always one of those booths worth stopping by to see what impressive designs the company has come up with.

COLORFUL's impressive custom 'Space Capsule' PC, DOOM-themed RTX 5080, and more

This year was no different, thanks to two custom PC mods, the new Ultra Series PC available for purchase, and the limited edition DOOM-themed GeForce RTX 5080 being produced in limited quantities. First up, the iGame Vulcan Space Capsule was created with the design principle of "GPU-as-the-core."

This design looks fantastic to me because of the cool white sci-fi frame aesthetic that blends seamlessly with the iGame Vulcan GPU. There's even a touch of retro in there, with the overall combination of the shape and GPU fans reminiscent of old-school boom boxes. The fact that it's a complete PC with an integrated water cooling radiator and premium PSU makes it all the more impressive.

Kosta Andreadis | Gaming | May 20, 2025 12:27 AM CDT

Until now, MSI's Claw gaming handhelds have been a rarity in the portable gaming space, with previous iterations shipping with Intel Meteor and Lunar Lake chips with integrated Arc graphics. At Computex 2025, MSI unveiled the new MSI Claw A8, powered by AMD's latest Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip for PC gaming handhelds.

The new handheld sports the same 8-inch Full HD 120 Hz, VRR, touchscreen display and 1TB of internal M.2 SSD storage as the Claw 8 AI Plus we saw last year.

Shifting to an AMD APU brings MSI's Claw handheld more in line with the competition, such as Lenovo's Legion Go series and ASUS's ROG Ally. On the plus side, the MSI Claw A8 features the latest Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip with integrated Radeon 890M graphics, making it one of the first handhelds to sport AMD's latest flagship portable PC gaming hardware.

TEAMGROUP had its new T-FORCE GE PRO Gen5 SSD in an ultra-high-capacity 8TB Gen5 SSD at Computex 2025, rolling out with up to 14GB/sec reads, and comes with a patented graphene heatsink for enhanced heat dissipation, too. Check it out:

TEAMGROUP shows off its T-FORCE GE PRO Gen5 SSD in a larger 8TB capacity, up to 14GB/sec reads

The new TEAMGROUP T-FORCE GE PRO M.2 PCIe SSD features the InnoGrit IG5666 8-channel SSD controller with DRAM cache, with 3D TLC NAND flash, and that beautiful 8TB capacity. We have read speeds of up to 14GB/sec (14,000MB/sec) and writes of up to 11.8GB/sec (11,800MB/sec).

The company has an active cooler for those who want to never see below those advertised 14GB/sec read speeds, slotting onto the 8TB Gen5 SSD and keeping it even cooler than the stock graphene heatsink. There's no flashy RGB lighting here either, just the high 8TB capacity and super-quick 14GB/sec speeds. The active cooler would look schmick inside of your gaming PC, as well, but is not required to run the Gen5 SSD.

TEAMGROUP unveils the CinemaPr P36D, a content creators best friend

Jak Connor | Storage | May 20, 2025 12:01 AM CDT

Computex 2025 is officially underway and TEAMGROUP has kicked off the trade show with a new product aimed directly at content creators, or anyone that likes to capture professional-grade video content on-the-go.

TEAMGROUP unveils the CinemaPr P36D, a content creators best friend

The CinemaPr P36D is a portable SSD that comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities, with the device featuring 3D NAND flash, users are able to perform transfers of up to 1,000 MB/s read, and 900 MB/s write. Who is this product for? TEAMGROUP told me that it's aiming the CinemaPr P36D at iPhone 15/16 Pro and Pro Max users who require an external storage device to capture high-quality professional Cinema-grade video. Notably, while both iPhone models (Pro and Pro Max) are capable of shooting video without an external storage, the phone is unable to save the footage to the internal storage of the device, which is why an external storage solution is required.

TEAMGROUP's CinemaPr P36D can be attached to a gimbal or even a tri-pod through its quarter-inch screw hole located at it's base. The idea behind this is to provide a portable solution for content creators that typically shoot video with a gimbal or a tripod for extremely stabilized shots. The CinemaPr P36D also comes equipped with an HDMI out for displaying the video out to an external monitor for viewing/shooting purposes. Moreove, the CinemaPr P36D features cable management slits that are designed to hook cables and keep them out the way while shooting.

Gamer Nexus and Hardware Unboxed say NVIDIA is 'paying' for favorable RTX 5060 coverage

Kosta Andreadis | Graphics Cards | May 19, 2025 6:45 PM CDT

Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed have released new videos outlining NVIDIA's attempted manipulation of coverage for its GeForce RTX GPUs based on their experiences with the company. This comes to a head with this week's release of the GeForce RTX 5060, where media weren't given access to pre-release drivers for the mainstream RTX Blackwell graphics card.

Gamer Nexus and Hardware Unboxed say NVIDIA is 'paying' for favorable RTX 5060 coverage

And with the GeForce RTX 5060 launch and drivers becoming available during Computex 2025, when most media cannot benchmark and complete testing, it's not a good look for NVIDIA's approach to the latest RTX 50 Series launch. I can confirm the latter, as I've had a GeForce RTX 5060 in my possession for over a week with no drivers to complete a review for TweakTown ahead of the show.

Gamers Nexus's 'NVIDIA's Dirty Manipulation of Reviews' video highlights their detailed experiences with NVIDIA. It outlines how the company wanted to see coverage of DLSS 4 technologies, like Multi Frame Generation, to gain access to certain engineers or employees for its highly technical, in-depth coverage.
