NVIDIA's new RTX 5090D V2 might not happen for China now that US restrictions are easing

The ban on NVIDIA's H20 AI GPU is expected to be lifted soon, raising doubts about the launch of the RTX 5090 D V2 in China, according to a new post by leaker "MEGAsizeGPU" on X. NVIDIA has reportedly not shipped its new RTX 5090 D V2 graphics cards to AIB partners, and with the US government easing its restrictions, the company could now resell its RTX 5090 D.

The RTX 5090 D has been selling in China for many months now, with NVIDIA having quite the inventory of RTX 5090 D cards still, we are to expect the RTX 5090 D V2 to not appear for now. The supply chain is still expecting the RTX 5090 D V2 to be released, so it could be a few more months before release so that the company can get rid of its RTX 5090 D inventory.

US government greenlights NVIDIA selling GPUs to Chinese customers

| Jul 15, 2025 12:41 AM CDT

NVIDIA has announced that the US government has granted the company approval for selling GPUs to Chinese customers, following the US ban on the sale of high-end GPUs over fears that China would use them to advance military operations and get a leg up in the global AI arms race.

US government greenlights NVIDIA selling GPUs to Chinese customers

NVIDIA attempted to work around those initial bans set by the US government by introducing new GPUs specifically designed within the parameters set by the US government, which meant these China-destined models had underpowered hardware.

One of those GPUs was the H20, which NVIDIA specifically designed for sales to China and was granted approval by US authorities to begin shipments. However, the US government reversed its decision and blocked the H20 by no longer issuing export permits for it. This decision cost NVIDIA $10 billion in sales.

GeForce RTX 40 Series owners are getting access to NVIDIA's new Smooth Motion tech

| Jul 14, 2025 2:29 AM CDT

NVIDIA's Smooth Motion technology was released earlier this year, a driver-based Frame Generation solution similar to AMD's Fluid Motion Frames in that it doesn't require game integration, like DLSS. Initially, this new feature was exclusive to the latest GeForce RTX 50 Series of graphics cards, but that's changing in an upcoming driver release.

GeForce RTX 40 Series owners are getting access to NVIDIA's new Smooth Motion tech

The feature was spotted in the latest GeForce 590.26 Preview Driver for developers, which includes support for enabling Smooth Motion on GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards. Although Smooth Motion doesn't require game integration like DLSS Frame Generation, it still utilizes the AI hardware in GeForce RTX GPUs for generating its additional frame.

Smooth Motion, like Frame Generation, is all about improving the performance of a game by generating a new frame in between traditionally rendered frames. This improves the overall smoothness of the presentation, giving the impression and effect of doubling or substantially boosting performance.

AMD still rumored with high-end 'multi-chiplet' Radeon GPU, could debut with UDNA architecture

| Jul 11, 2025 3:33 PM CDT

AMD has been rumored for quite a while that it was working on a multi-chiplet gaming GPU, with a new patent fueling these rumors in the battle of GPUs against NVIDIA.

AMD still rumored with high-end 'multi-chiplet' Radeon GPU, could debut with UDNA architecture

In a new video shared by coreteks, we're hearing that AMD has recently secured a new multi-chiplet GPU patent that could solve the latency issues using a 'Smart Switch'. MCM (Multi-Chiplet Module) isn't new, as they're used outside of the gaming GPU market, but there are limitations of monolithic GPU designs that MCM can solve.

AMD used an MCM design approach for its Instinct MI200 series AI accelerators, stacking multiple chiplets onto a single package, including the GPCs (Graphics Processing Cores), HBM memory stack, and the I/O die. However, AMD used a different approach with its Instinct MI350 series AI chips, and this could be the foundation of its multi-chiplet-based consumer gaming GPUs according to coreteks in his new video.
