More than 30 years of Magic hasn't diminished the brand--far from it. Wizards' iconic card game is more active than ever as it becomes a kind of Fortnite of CCGs thanks to its myriad of franchise crossovers. The plan is working exceptionally well, with skyrocketing sales for sets based on Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy, and more recently, the Marvel superheroes. Having both a digital and material version of the game further propels its consistent sales.

Hasbro today revealed that Magic: The Gathering is now making more money than it ever has before, achieving a record-breaking $545 million in earnings throughout Q2 2026. To put that number into perspective, Magic made up over 71% of Hasbro's total quarterly gaming revenues.

"Magic: The Gathering eclipsed $500 million in quarterly revenue for the first time in its 30-plus year history, led by the record-breaking debut of Marvel Super Heroes. With strong indications for our remaining releases and line of sight to continued growth in 2027, the Magic flywheel is firing on all cylinders," Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said in a press release.

The news comes as Hasbro records a hefty $56 million impairment charge on cancelled video game projects. Given the high margins of CCG products, the company is gearing towards safer bets as volatility wracks the games industry.

Another data point that illustrates just how much Magic has grown over the years: Back in 2023, Magic made $1.058 billion for the entire year. The game is doing so well that it's made that much in just half a year.

According to Hasbro's financials, MTG made $1.014 billion in the first six months of 2026. The franchise is on track to pull in record full-year earnings this year.
