Avengers: Doomsday leaves GTA 6 behind with 500 million trailer views in one day

GTA 6 has been the reigning champ of trailer views and overall hype for a while now, but Marvel just knocked it down a spot. Avengers: Doomsday dropped its first full trailer this week and racked up a staggering 503 million views in 24 hours, which is enough to make it the second biggest trailer launch ever, and the biggest trailer Disney has ever put out.

For context, GTA 6's second trailer hit 475 million views across all platforms back in May 2025, a number that blew away the old Deadpool & Wolverine record at the time. Rockstar's first trailer only managed 90 million YouTube views in its opening day, which still broke records back in late 2023, but trailer culture has clearly moved fast since then. Even the second GTA 6 trailer's YouTube-only number sat around 75 million, well below its own combined-platform total once every site got counted.

That doesn't matter much now, because Doomsday just walked past both GTA 6 numbers in a single day. The Russo brothers are back directing, Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man, and the movie is stacking basically every Marvel hero left standing plus the X-Men into one film. That kind of lineup was always going to pull a crowd, but 503 million views is still a wild number for a trailer that's just under three minutes long.

It's still not the biggest trailer ever, though. That title belongs to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which pulled in 719 million views in its first 24 hours back in March and has since crossed a billion views total. So Doomsday sits in second place overall, behind one Marvel movie and just ahead of the most anticipated video game of the decade.

What's kind of funny here is that GTA 6 already got bumped once by Spider-Man earlier this year, and now it's been passed again by a second Marvel movie in the same twelve months. Rockstar's game is still massively hyped, obviously. GTA 6 doesn't need trailer records to sell copies, but it's a good reminder that raw view counts these days are as much about marketing machine size as they are about how much people actually want the thing.
