PureDark has released a new paid upscaler mod that brings NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation support to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - a title now more than a decade old. The mod is available through PureDark's Patreon and is aimed at RTX 50-series GPU owners looking to take advantage of NVIDIA's latest DLSS technologies.

Released back in 2015, CD Projekt's The Witcher 3 predates DLSS entirely, as NVIDIA first introduced the technology in 2019. However, the game's 2022 next-gen update added support for DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Reflex, ray-traced global illumination, FSR 2, and Ultra+ settings. However, the game doesn't officially support NVIDIA's latest DLSS 4.5 technology, which launched early this year.

DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation works differently from fixed MFG modes. Instead of a fixed frame multiplier, NVIDIA says it automatically adjusts the generation multiplier based on target frame rate, display refresh rate, or GPU load.

PureDark's mod replaces the game's default Streamline 1.x with Streamline 2.11.1, which is required for newer DLSS technologies like Multi Frame Generation to function properly. It offers both fixed and dynamic multiplier modes. Fixed MFG lets you manually select a 2x, 3x, 4x, or up to 6x frame multiplier, while Dynamic MFG automatically adjusts based on scene load to target your display's maximum refresh rate.

According to data shared by PureDark, FPS can jump from 53 to 320 with the mod installed. YouTuber Gaming DJ tested it on an RTX 5070 Ti with Ray Tracing Ultra settings, finding that a 30 FPS base delivers 60 FPS at 2x, 90 FPS at 3x, and up to 180 FPS at 6x. However, visual quality degrades noticeably above 3x, with artifacts appearing around character models and UI elements, making 3x the sweet spot.

The mod also includes an in-game menu for switching presets, setting framerate limits, and toggling frame generation features without leaving the game. The mod is titled "Witcher 3 Upscaler DLSS4 Build 01" and is available to PureDark's Patreon subscribers starting at $5 per month. Premium membership also grants access to PureDark's full library of upscaler mods for other titles.
