Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to launch in September 2026, with a price of $1999 and said to create a $65 billion market opportunity for the company.

In a new market research note to investors, banking firm JPMorgan supported recent rumors that Apple would be launching a new device in 2026, with Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 family of smartphones to offer a few different upgrades across the board, and the introduction of the iPhone 17 Slim, which has resulted in investors shifting their focus to Apple's 2026 product launches.
Apple's 2026 product launches will include the next-generation iPhone 18 family of smartphones, as well as the introduction of the company's first foldable iPhone.
JPMorgan notes that the first foldable iPhone will reportedly be priced at $1999 and create a $65 billion market opportunity for Apple, with high-single-digit earnings accretion in the medium term, the bankers noted. JPMorgan predicts foldable iPhone sales to reach around 45 million units by 2028, and starting in the low-teens millions in 2027.
The firm expects that foldable smartphone sales in 2025 look to be around 19 million, with Apple's influence on the market once the foldable iPhone is launched, is expected to be "considerate". Millions of Apple fans have watched their friends and family upgrade over the last 7 years of foldable Galaxy smartphones from Samsung, with the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 foldable smartphones only launching a couple of weeks ago.

Apple's first foldable iPhone is rumored to be dubbed the iPhone Ultra, with an inward-folding book-style 7.8-inch Display with what should be next to no crease, a titanium chassis, and a next-gen durable hinge with Liquid Metal, dual rear-facing cameras, and Touch ID in place of Face ID.
The internal display will fold out into a larger 7.8-inch display that will deliver an iPad-like experience for increases in productivity, entertainment, gaming, and multitasking. Apple will reportedly work with developers to take advantage of the bigger display together with the inner display.
