The Witcher series has sold over 90 million copies worldwide, CD Projekt has announced in its latest Q1 report.

CD Projekt's Q1 2026 results show consistent earnings with strong 56% profit margins, driven by a multitude of game sales across its two major brands: Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher.
The devs confirmed that The Witcher 3 has now sold 65 million copies, up 5 million from the figure disclosed in the FY25 results. At the time, CD Projekt also attached a 85 million figure to the entire series, so the Q1 results would seem to also bump that franchise total by 5 million up to 90 million.

There are few video game franchises that can achieve these kinds of sales across a 20-year span, and in The Witcher 3's case, which accounts for 72% of all franchise sales, just 11 years. CD Projekt is able to sell its games on a consistent, cyclical basis thanks to its innovative flywheel model that extends all the way from marketing with discounts and sales to transmedia and strategic re-releases.

Another interesting thing to note is that 2027 is the 20th anniversary of the first Witcher game's release, and CD Projekt is planning to do something rather unheard of by releasing a new expansion for an 11 year-old game. It's called Songs of the Past, and it's coming sometime in 2027.
CD Projekt has been updating The Witcher 3 throughout its various re-releases, and the current-gen version features compatibility with the new expansion. The studio has upped PC spec requirements as a result.
