Stellar Blade is a sci-fi action adventure from South Korean developer SHIFT UP Corporation that was a fan favourite and hit when it debuted on PlayStation 5 consoles last year. The game, which Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation published, finally made its way to PC last week, and the Steam data shows us that it's on track to be one of the biggest PC game launches of 2025.

As far as single-player PlayStation games that Sony has published on Steam go, Stellar Blade is the publisher's biggest hit to date. This past weekend, the Steam peak concurrent player count for the game hit an impressive 192,078, more than double Ghost of Tsushima's peak concurrent player count of 77,154.
Looking at the PlayStation Publishing page on Steam Charts, which tracks who's playing what at any given moment, Stellar Blade is proving to be more popular than massive PlayStation franchises like God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, and Uncharted.
However, Helldivers 2's multiplayer and co-op action is still Sony's most successful PC game launch on Steam. It hit a massive peak concurrent player count of 458,709 in February 2024. It's interesting to see Stellar Blade come out of the gates swinging like this on PC. Even though it wasn't developed by one of Sony's veteran first-party studios like Naughty Dog or Insomniac, it could lead to the gaming powerhouse making more publishing deals like this with independent studios for both PlayStation and PC.
Stellar Blade currently has a 'Very Positive' user review rating on Steam, with over 15,000 reviews submitted so far. Outside of the gameplay, the PC version is praised for its polished performance and enhanced visuals bolstered by technologies like DLSS 4. It's that rare AAA-style PC release that runs well on old and new hardware.
