Red Dead Redemption 2 to get next-gen update and Switch 2 release very soon
Previous rumors indicated Red Dead Redemption 2 was coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 as early as this year, and according to industry insider Nate the Hate those rumors are true, and that a Switch 2 version of the game is only a matter of months away.
Rumors in May citing "sources close to Rockstar" stated Red Dead Redemption 2 was headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 "this year", and would join the selection of third-party titles in the same open-world genre, Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077.
For those wondering if it's even possible to squeeze Red Dead Redemption 2 onto the Nintendo Switch 2, you should note that Red Dead Redemption is available on the original Nintendo Switch, and that Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring are both announced for the Switch 2. If those games can run on Nintendo's latest hardware, so can Red Dead Redemption 2.
CD Projekt Red may not be finished with Cyberpunk 2077, rumors stir of new DLC
CD Projekt Red may not be completely finished with Cyberpunk 2077, as rumors have begun swirling about a second DLC for the title being released.
Notably, when Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020, developers CD Projekt Red planned to release two major DLCs, which falls in line with how the developer treated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as that title received the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLCs. Unfortunately for CD Projekt Red, and gamers, Cyberpunk 2077 released in an abysmal state, resulting in DLC content being pushed back for more time spent in getting the game to actually run at a level that is proportionate with the quality titles that CD Projekt Red produces.
The developer ultimately decided to make only one large DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. That DLC was released and received extremely positively by fans, even helping to wipe away some of the stain caused by the shaky launch of Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red recently revealed that Phantom Liberty surpassed 10 million units sold. It appears the success of Phantom Liberty has inspired CDPR to release some more content for Cyberpunk 2077, as Redditors have discovered info on the LinkedIn profile of a Senior Writer at Virtuos, the developer behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
GameStop punctured holes in Nintendo Switch 2 screens with stapler on launch day
GameStop has ruined one of the most exciting days of the year for some people, as some fans who lined up to get a brand new Nintendo Switch 2 were unpleasantly surprised when they realized GameStop had stapled through the screen.
What is even more unfortunate is that many of these Nintendo fans discovered this in the early hours of the morning as GameStop hosted midnight launch parties across the US for the Switch. Moreover, doors for GameStop opened at 3PM on June 4, with fans waiting in line until midnight to receive their new console. Switch 2 owners affected by this problem have already begun taking to social media to report the mishandling by GameStop, with many saying their brand new Switch 2 has holes in its screen thanks to GameStop stapling the receipt for the console to the outside of the box.
GameStop has responded to the issue in an X post, where the company stated it has "addressed a unique case of staples damaging Switch 2 screens-isolated to one store. Replacements have been offered. Staplers have been confiscated." It appears that just one store used the staple technique. However, it's likely other buyers also experienced this problem but didn't post photos to social media and simply went and got a replacement. A second individual did report the same issue, as seen below.
GTA 6 leaker who correctly predicted main character names reveals gameplay details
A leaker of Grand Theft Auto 6 has dropped more details about the upcoming, with many of them revealing aspects of the gameplay.
It's a generally healthy approach to take any leak with a dose of skepticism, as most of them end up being false or hard to prove authentic. However, every now and again, a genuine leak does happen, and the source is accurate in its prediction. This is one of those moments.
X user GameRoll correctly predicted both of the main protagonists' last names before Rockstar officially revealed them in the second trailer for GTA 6. GameRoll posted to X on April 19, sharing the last names of both characters, which Rockstar formally revealed on May 6.
Razer releases glorious see-through keyboard, mouse, and headset
Razer has announced a new collection of PC hardware peripherals that feature a unique design the company is calling "Phantom".
The new Phantom Collection includes a new design for four of its peripherals: The Razer BlackWidow V4 75 Percent, Barracuda X Chroma, Basilisk V3 Pro 35K, and Firefly V2 Pro. Each of these products features a new translucent design, which has bumped the price up for some of the products, while some have remained the same. For example, the BlackWidow V4 Phantom Edition is the same price as the standard keyboard, but the Basilisk V3 Pro, Barracuda X Chroma, and Firefly V2 Pro are all $10 more.
The new Phantom design showcases the inner workings of the products, which Razer says is to intentionally display the engineering that has gone into each of the devices as a "statement piece that reflects the soul of innovation." If you are interested in checking out the prices for each of the products within the Phantom Collection, a list can be found below. Razer has already launched the Phantom Collection, which is available now on Razer's online store and other retailers globally. Check out Razer's Phantom Collection here.

YouTuber banned from Nintendo Store after smashing Switch 2 in front of employees
A YouTuber has become the first person banned from Nintendo San Francisco after they purchased a Nintendo Switch 2 and smashed it in front of store employees.
That YouTuber is PlainRock124, which is a channel dedicated to purchasing and breaking new technology products in a series called "Bored Smashing." PlainRock has amassed more than 2.5 million subscribers by posting this sort of content, with his biggest video being "25 Ways to Break a Switch Lite," which has gained 74 million views. PlainRock took to his personal X account to share the above post showcasing a shattered Nintendo Switch 2 screen in front of a Nintendo Store.
The caption of the image states, "Banned from Nintendo San Francisco," and is then followed up with another reply, "Not kidding, they said I was the first person that's banned from the store." PlainRock didn't provide any further context on what got him specifically banned from the store, but judging from the content that he was making, it can be assumed Nintendo Store employees didn't think it was a great representation of the newly launched product to have it destroyed on film in front of the store.
World of Warcraft game director: 'Trust is everything, transparency is the only way'
World of Warcraft's game director outlines the most important things for any live service game--maintaining trust and transparency.
At the recent Nordic Game 2025 conference in Sweden, World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas gave a stage presentation about the lessons that he's learned through 20 years of the MMORPG.
Hazzikostas' presentation strongly emphasized that game developers and publishers must maintain a healthy relationship with their communities, and trust will often determine whether or not a game lives or dies. The insight rings true and can be attributed to the long-running success of specific games as well as the total U-turn reinventions of big games like Final Fantasy XIV and even Fallout 76.

New Xbox PC branding pops up in game promos
Mention of the newer Xbox PC branding has once again appeared in official game promo materials.
Yesterday, the official Xbox YouTube channel published a gameplay trailer for MIO: Memories In Orbit, a new stylish Metroidvania. The footage showed clear mention of Xbox PC and guided users to download a free demo that's available on Windows PC. What's notable is that MIO is a third-party game that's published by Focus Home Interactive and it's not a first-party title, but it is however featured on Xbox Game Pass, which could denote a partner deal is in place.
The snippet was caught by Windows Central, who noted the Xbox PC handle could be part of Microsoft's new gaming efforts for Windows 11.

Silent Hill F confirmed to have heavy focus on combat compared to Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill F has received an official release date at Sony's State of Play in a new trailer, and to go along with the trailer, Konami has provided some additional details that inform players what they can expect. It's quite different from the previous Silent Hill game.
Producer Motoi Okamoto, along with Konami and developer NeoBards, revealed their mission statement with the creation of Silent Hill F, and that was to "Find the beauty in terror." That mission statement created four pillars of the game, intricate details of the 1960s Japan setting at high visual fidelity (4K resolution), visuals and music being juxtaposed between beauty and terror, puzzles being grounded in psychological anguish and suffering, and lastly, combat.
That last pillar may be jarring to some Silent Hill fans, especially those who got into the franchise in Silent Hill 2. According to Okamoto, the combat in Silent Hill F will have a "heavier focus on melee" and be more "action-oriented" compared to Silent Hill 2. Don't think this will just be a hack-and-slash experience, though, as Okamoto says the combat will be as challenging as the obstacles players will encounter.
Reddit files lawsuit against 'white knight' AI company, claiming it's really a villain
Reddit has filed a lawsuit against Anthropic, one of the world's leading AI companies, over allegedly scraping the social media platform's data without its permission.
The lawsuit, filed in the San Francisco Superior Court on Wednesday, claims that Anthropic used scraper bots to harvest Reddit data, violating the platform's User Agreement. The complaint states that Anthropic "bills itself as the white knight of the AI industry. It's anything but". The complaint adds that Anthropic pushes the message that it as a company "prioritizes honesty" and is "guided by unusually high trust". Reddit dismisses these affirmations, saying, "These claims are empty marketing gimmicks."
The complaint goes on to allege that Anthropic intentionally trained its AI models on Reddit data without first getting consent from the company. Additionally, Reddit claims that Anthropic's claim in 2024 that it stopped using content harvesting bots after it received complaints from the platform is false, with repair community website iFixit stating that Anthropic web crawlers landed on its website more than a million times in a single day in July 2024.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak beats 10 million sales worldwide, is now Capcom's #10 best seller
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide, Capcom today announced.
Sunbreak is one of the most popular video game expansions on the market with over 10 million copies sold in a roughly 3-year span, a new Capcom press release has revealed.
Originally released nearly 3 years ago, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak exploded onto the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022, but the base game eventually released on PS5 and Xbox about 7 months later. The staggered launch helped Monster Hunter Rise accumulate many millions of sales across multiple platforms. Sunbreak was later launched onto consoles in spring 2023, further accelerating sales.
Rumor: NVIDIA RTX 5050 desktop GPU is still alive and could debut alongside laptop variant
The GPU grapevine is once more alive with chatter about NVIDIA's RTX 5050 desktop graphics card, and despite our recent worries, apparently this model is still incoming.
If you're thinking - recent worries, what might they be? - we're talking about the fact that of late, all the rumors have been about the mobile RTX 5050, with no mention of the desktop version, leading us to be concerned that there may not be a latter. (After all, there was never an RTX 4050 desktop, which was a sore point with budget-conscious PC gamers).
Well, it appears the desktop RTX 5050 is theoretically still incoming, because as VideoCardz reports, the rumor mill lit up with some speculation about this graphics card yesterday. On top of that, the tech site says it has contacted sources who indicated that NVIDIA is indeed about to launch this GPU in the coming weeks.
PS5 owners need to update their console now - new patch finally fixes awful VRR stuttering bug
If you've got a PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro and the VRR (variable refresh rate) bug that's been causing stuttering with some games has been driving you crazy, here's some great news - apparently it's fixed.
PS5 gamers on Reddit noticed that applying the latest (minor) update for the console did the trick in terms of banishing the VRR problem. Then, Digital Foundry confirmed on X that Sony's PR department had been in touch to let them know that the issue has been resolved. (Hat tip to Wccftech for noticing all this, by the way).
This much-wanted VRR cure isn't mentioned in Sony's patch release notes, though, which is baffling given the gravity of this problem, which has been persistently annoying the hell out of a whole load of gamers (putting it mildly).

Amazon is already working on humanoid robots that might eventually be used to deliver products to customers.
According to a report by The Information, the retail giant is already preparing to test these robots, according to an anonymous source familiar with Amazon's plans.
That testing involves an indoor obstacle course known as the 'humanoid park' where the robots can be let loose, and apparently this facility is nearly complete now, and testing will soon begin.
Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2 details: framerate, resolution, features, and support
Epic Games has celebrated the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 by providing a bunch of details on how Fortnite will play on Nintendo's latest console.
Epic has taken to its website to share a bunch of details on the Switch 2 version of Fortnite, with the developer writing that players will be able to enjoy the game at a smooth 60FPS at various resolutions. According to the post, Fortnite will be running at a 2,176 x 1224 in docked mode, and then drop down to 1,600 x 900p in handheld mode. Both modes will be at 60FPS. The Switch 2 version of the game will also feature higher-quality textures, shadows, and water.
As for other bells and whistles, clothing physics have been enabled, along with the inclusion of the Replay system so players are able to relive their best Battle Royale matches from different perspectives. The Switch 2 version of Fortnite will also feature a Capture button for capturing video clips of gameplay, and GameChat support and streaming support to share gameplay to up to three other friends. Arguably, the biggest feature is Mouse control support, which will be arriving at a later date (June 7).
Forza Horizon makes more money than its competitors combined, Playground Games co-founder says
Forza Horizon may be the most successful racing game series of all time, at least according to the co-founder responsible for the team making the games.
For years, the Forza racing franchise was a crown jewel in Xbox's first-party exclusivity lineup. That changed when Microsoft decided to break exclusivity and offer key games on competing platforms. Forza Horizon 5 crossed over to PlayStation 5 in late April and helped Microsoft once again take over Sony's PlayStation Store charts.
Interestingly enough, the Forza Horizon franchise was apparently the top dog among its competitors--even before releasing on PlayStation. In a recent interview with Games Industry.biz, Playground Games (the studio responsible for Forza games) co-founder Gavin Raeburn said that Forza Horizon didn't just beat other racing games--it made more money than all of them combined.
