Marathon should be out by March 2026, but Sony isn't ready to make an official commitment just yet.

A bit ago, Bungie and PlayStation delayed Marathon to an indefinite period. The live game reportedly wasn't passing internal playtest reviews, and Sony doesn't want another $400 million Concord-level disaster on its hands. So Marathon was delayed...as to when, we don't know.
In a recent Q1'25 earnings webcast with analysts, Sony CFO Lin Tao directly commented on Marathon's release, saying that the intent is to launch the game in FY25 but no promises can be made.
"We expect the launch to happen within this fiscal year, but having said that, this not a commitment. We cannot...no official announcement has been given yet.
"We are expecting this to be launched within this fiscal year, however, its sales are very small compared to the overall sales.
"And the timing of launch, we are now doing modifications in development, and based on the progress, in the Autumn timeframe, we believe we can communicate when we can launch [Marathon], either from Bungie or PlayStation.
When asked if Marathon will actually release, or if it'll be another costly write-down for Sony, Tao responded:
"We are fixing the problems, and we believe this launch will happen. If this launch is cancelled, we need to re-evaluate.
"However, as of now, that is not expected."
Bungie is busy re-tooling Marathon and adding in a plethora of new features, including the much-request proximity chat, adjusting survival elements, and aligning the game to fit the darker sci-fi tone from Bungie's decades-old Marathon franchise.
PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst recently commented that Marathon and other live service games are going through 'constant testing' at Sony.
"For Marathon, it's our goal to release a very bold and very innovative, deeply engaging title. It's going to be the first new Bungie title in over a decade, so we're really excited for that release," Hulst said.
