Introduction

Ever since the release of their original OMEGA and TITAN gaming chairs, Secretlab has been at the very top of my short list of 'best gaming chair' companies in the world.

When the news broke that the company was about to refresh their OMEGA and TITAN gaming chair family with 2018 models, excitement built quickly. Secretlab has two new gaming chairs in their 2018 range, with the upgraded OMEGA and TITAN 2018 models.

Secretlab first released the OMEGA 2016 gaming chair using the inspiration of luxury sports car seats and quickly became the company's best-selling and flagship model... until now. Secretlab has given the OMEGA 2018 a very slick facelift, with some special features that we will go over soon.

The biggest upgrade of all is the memory foam lumbar pillow, which is glorious... just... glorious.

OMEGA 2018 Upgrades: Cold-Curing & Memory Foam

Updated to 2018 Style

Secretlab has dunked the OMEGA 2018 into a pool of pure awesome sauce, as it positively oozes style. I absolutely love the style of the new Secretlab OMEGA 2018 gaming chair, so much so that I'm going to call it the best-styled, and most-comfortable chair yet - but more on the 'most-comfortable' gaming chair yet, soon.

The more modernized look is joined with fully-adjustable armrests that are ever-so-slightly wider but make a huge difference in comfort. The armrests also have a slightly different texture, which helps for long gaming sessions.

Secretlab has made the backrest wings on the OMEGA 2018 gaming chair more pronounced, which doesn't just make for a slightly different style, but it reduces stress on your back and shoulders.

Oh-So-Comfy

The OMEGA 2018 uses Secretlab's signature high-density cold-cure foam which might sound like a load of marketing buzzwords, but the OMEGA 2018 is unbelievably comfy. The company has improved on the OMEGA line with the 2018 model using a single, thick layer of foam making the entire surface even more solid and comfortable.

It might not sound like much, but cold-curing is the "preferred method for automobile and theater seat production as the process creates foam with greater comfort, durability, and resistance to aging. Our cold-cure foam provides well-placed pockets of air in your seat that cushions your body well by absorbing the pressure off your back. Our foam is also made to last and retain its shape for years-so you never have to worry about your Secretlab chair losing its form".

What Is Cold-Curing

Whenever I hear the words 'cold-curing', for some reason, I think of cold cuts, but we know this is a gaming chair and not meat. So, what exactly is cold-curing? Cold-curing is the method for automobile and theater seat production, as the process creates foam with increased comfort, durability and resistance to aging. Secretlab's cold-cure foam features well-placed pockets of air in your seat, something that cushions your body and absorbs the pressure off your back.

Secretlab's awesome cold-cured foam is made to last and retain its shape for years, so you don't need to worry about your Secretlab OMEGA 2018 gaming chair losing its form.

The cold-curing process Secretlab uses means that every single piece of foam has its own individual mold, unlike cheaper gaming chairs with cheaply-produced foam where the pieces are hewn out of a single, giant block of foam.

Secretlab's cold-curing process ensures the best consistency, integrity, and strength into the foam. Do note that the cold-curing process leaves a tough outer layer on each piece of foam, something that is referred to as "foam skin." Foam skin prevents air from escaping when pressure is applied... like, you know... when you sit down on the chair. This means that the OMEGA 2018 is resistant to compression, making it firmer - but not too firm. It's really, just right.

The foam used in the OMEGA 2018 gaming chair has an indentation force deflection of 50, which Secretlab notes is America's Polyurethane Foam Association defines as 'shock absorbing.' This means that the foam inside of the OMEGA 2018 can support heavy stress while being unbelievably comfy.

Memory Foam Lumbar Pillow Changes EVERYTHING

Seriously, the new memory foam lumbar pillow that comes with the OMEGA 2018 is freaking amazing. Secretlab provides a beautiful velour memory foam lumbar pillow that molds to your body shape, fitting the natural arch in your lower back. This provides unprecedented support for your spine and truly delivers in the comfort department.

Considering how important your back is, and it really is - my wife recently experienced a slipped disc and was bedridden for two weeks. She had a 3-6 month recovery period, so I'm well acquainted with serious back problems. I've been in a few car accidents over the years, and hell - I was even hit by a car when walking across the road, and thrown nearly 10 feet through the air. So when I have to sit down for a living, like right now writing a review about a gaming chair, a comfortable gaming chair can really make all the difference.

Secretlab's inclusion of the memory foam lumbar pillow changes the game for the OMEGA 2018 gaming chair, it really does.

Redesigned Four-Directional Armrests

Secretlab has made some great little improvements to the four-directional armrests, which can now be adjusted along four axes. This means you can have your wrists to your elbows well-supported, no matter which position your arms are in.

The armrests themselves are slightly wider, with a slight concave down its length, resulting in more ways you can rest your arms. The padding is thicker, with Secretlab increasing comfort all around the chair - from the foam to the lumbar pillow, right down to the improved armrests.

New Hydraulic Piston

There's an increase in the height of the Class 4 hydraulic piston that Secretlab made tweaks to in order to support a wider range of users' heights. Secretlab cares about your health, so these adjustments have been made to the hydraulic piston in order to keep your feet on the ground, or a footrest - keeping a healthy blood flow while you're sitting down for hours at a time. Note: you should be getting up and walking around every hour or so, that's my pro-health tip for this review.

PRIME PU Leather

Secretlab uses their signature PRIME PU leather on the OMEGA 2018 gaming chair, which is both durable and waterproof, as well as soft and flexible. Because Secretlab is using their PRIME PU leather and not real leather, you don't need to worry about the upkeep as much, nor do you have to worry about keeping it out of harsh temperatures.

This means you just need to wipe down your OMEGA 2018 every now and again, as it is protected from your drink spilling onto your chair in the middle of a fight in Battlegrounds.

Butt, What Is It Like To Sit On?

SO COMFORTABLE

I spent an entire week sitting down on the new Secretlab OMEGA 2018 gaming chair, with a big mix of activities done in the chair. I worked 8-10 hours per day sitting on the chair, gamed for a few hours each day in Battlegrounds, and even played some Xbox One X sitting in the OMEGA 2018.

The first thing you experience is how perfectly soft and firm the OMEGA 2018 is, with your butt feeling very comfortable after hours of sitting down. The adjusted armrests are also instantly apparent, with the few friends and family of mine that sat on the OMEGA 2018 chair also noticing the armrests quickly.

But the biggest thing is definitely the freakishly comfortable memory foam lumbar pillow, which completely changes the game. It really makes the entire experience of the Secretlab OMEGA 2018 gaming chair perfect. It can be adjusted and moved, and molds to your back and spine... what else could you want?

It provides you with a blissful sitting experience, also powered by the multi-functional tilt mechanism that lets you rock back into the chair with the memory foam lumbar pillow keeping your back and spine comfortable.

Memory Foam Lumbar Pillow - Secretlab's magic with the OMEGA 2018 really shines with the new memory foam lumbar pillow. I know I said it a bunch of times in the review, but this is seriously one of the best things about the new OMEGA 2018 gaming chair. Just as I was typing this review, I was moving the lumbar pillow around as I shifted on the chair, adjusting the pillow to the new position and continuing with the exact level of comfort I had before.

Improved OMEGA 2018 Style - The small but very visible changes in style on the OMEGA 2018 gaming chair are welcomed, as is the blue/black theme. Secretlab pulls out all of the stops in the design department, and it pays off. We can't have a super-comfortable chair if it doesn't look great, too... right?! There's no need for tacky RGB LEDs here, as Secretlab is forming itself as the Tesla of gaming chairs.

Wider Armrests - Seriously, the wider armrests are awesome. The little Secretlab logo on them is a nice touch, too.

Hours of Use: Still Comfortable - I sat in the chair for around 50 hours for this review, and my body is thankful for every single minute. Those many-hours-long PUBG sessions can be tiring, but not on the Secretlab OMEGA 2018 gaming chair. Again, dat memory foam, yo.

For The Serious Gamers - The same rules apply for serious gamers/Twitch streamers, etc. - they will get a lot of life out of the OMEGA 2018. Secretlab has crafted the most comfortable gaming chair of all time with the OMEGA 2018, and it really comes into play when you're sitting down for countless hours gaming and/or working.

What's Not

Nothing! Secretlab has crafted one of the most amazing gaming chairs I've ever used. The new OMEGA 2018 is my go-to favorite gaming chair now, by far.

Final Thoughts

The gaming chair market is something that, especially once you've reviewed a bunch of different ones, you think is 'all the same' but it's really not. You've got companies like Secretlab who spend all of their time and R&D into making the very best gaming chairs in the world, and this is how you end up with the OMEGA 2018.

Secretlab already had the gaming chair market in its hands with the TITAN and OMEGA 2016 offerings, but holy hell does the new OMEGA 2018 have some nice upgrades. From the very start, the packaging is great; there's a super-informative manual and how-to guide on making the OMEGA 2018 right out of the box. From there, the installation is simply - 15-20 minutes for most people, and then you're sitting down in the uber-comfortable OMEGA 2018 gaming chair.
