Our Verdict

While the Samsung PRO+ doesn't have any extreme capacity options at this time, it is the quickest and best priced solution we have ever seen come through the lab to date.

With the launch of the EVO+, Samsung has also introduced a new high-end solution ideal for 4K content, HD video and high-resolution photography. This latest solution should come as no surprise and carries the U3 designation.

The Samsung PRO+ is aimed at users wanting the very best in their microSD solution. Capacities offered start with a 32GB model and are followed up with the 64GB solution we have in house. These solutions, like stated above, are aimed at users that want to shoot 4K content and of course action cameras, high-end smartphones and tablets. Marketing specifications offer up 95 MB/s read and 90 MB/s write, which if true could make this the quickest microSD solution we have tested.

MSRP of the Samsung PRO+ in the 64GB capacity is listed at $54.99 with a ten-year warranty.

Packaging for the PRO+ is a little cleaner than what we saw with the EVO+. Here we have a full box with an image of the drive and capacity listed at the bottom. In the center of the packaging, we find marketing performance listed next to its speed class designations.

The PRO+ is packaged with the same SD adapter as the EVO+. This time around we have a hard plastic case that retains both cards.

The design for the PRO+ has shifted slightly from the silver and white of the PRO. This time we have a most black design with a red stripe.

The Samsung PRO+ memory card is factory formatted with the exFAT file system. Useable capacity after formatting stands at 59.5GB.

The Samsung PRO+ is the quickest card we have tested here at TweakTown. As stated in the introduction, we suspected that this might be the case when looking at the marketing performance numbers. In our testing, the PRO+ was able to reach 94 MB/s read, followed up by 86 MB/s write.

Anytime a memory card is capable of becoming the quickest solution in our charts, its highly likely, depending on price, that it will hit the top of the price/performance chart as well. That is the case with the Samsung PRO+ with its excellent performance and MSRP.

The Samsung PRO+ is probably one of the best all around microSD solutions I have seen in the last few years. The design of the drive has been carried out quite well and I really like the choice of colors. Adding to that, the quality of the micro SD card is on par with some of the top solutions we have seen and features a sealed PCB making it water, dust and shockproof, just like the EVO+.

Performance of the PRO+ was quite impressive, allowing the drive to take the top spot in our chart. Read performance came in at 94 MB/s, while write performance came in just under marketing at 86 MB/s. With the price per GB of the PRO+ sitting under 80 cents currently, this allowed the drive to also take the top spot in our price/performance chart.

The Samsung PRO+ is quite simply the best microSD solution we have seen and what makes it even better is this solution is priced perfectly for the average consumer.
