If you've got an Intel Arc graphics card and were disappointed at the lack of support for Crimson Desert, apparently this has now been fixed.
Wccftech flagged up that as of the most recent version 32.0.101.8629 of the Arc graphics driver, Crimson Desert now works.
This is based on feedback from Redditors, one of whom explained: "I just updated the driver for my B580, and now the game works. There are some glitches on the faces and terrain, but it's playable."
Others agree with this assessment broadly, but it's clear the game is still somewhat glitchy on Intel Arc GPUs. Some nasty artifacts with faces are shown in screenshots elsewhere on Reddit, so this appears to remain a definite stumbling block.
But at least we've got past the game not running at all, and producing a "graphics device is currently not supported" error.
Developer Pearl Abyss came under considerable fire from gamers who've gone the Intel route with their graphics card when it was found that Crimson Desert didn't support the game at launch. A suggestion on the official FAQ that disappointed Arc owners should simply get a refund didn't go down all that well, as you might imagine.
The developer has previously stated on X that: "We are currently working on compatibility and optimization support so that Crimson Desert can also be enjoyed on Intel Arc GPU systems. We are preparing to provide a smooth and stable gameplay experience, and we ask for your patience until the support update becomes available."
With any luck, we're near the point where any remaining notable glitches will be ironed out.
Intel could certainly do without games that refuse point-blank to work on its GPUs at launch, as it's not the first time this has happened, of course (Starfield being an obvious example).
