Monster Hunter Wilds is getting its endgame expansion a good deal more swiftly than anticipated - in fact, it's happening in a couple of weeks.
As announced on X (see the above post, which PC Gamer highlighted), the endgame work was going to be part of 'Title Update 3' debuting in late September going by Capcom's timeline.
However, as you can see, this is now arriving as part of the v1.021 update, on August 13. Originally, that update was supposed to be deployed early in August, so it's being shifted to mid-August to allow for some final polishing to be done to the endgame expansion.
Of course, the concern here is obvious - that fast-tracking the endgame goodies in such a way could lead to a buggy or subpar implementation.
Given the current feeling of the Monster Hunter Wilds player base, it would not be a good move to pull a wonky release here - to put it mildly. Which makes us think that Capcom must surely have a handle on what's going on here, and be confident enough in safely realizing the new timeline.
The update promises a "new level of quest difficulty" for the endgame and new rewards to boot, as well as weapon balancing measures, alongside miscellaneous "improvements and adjustments".
As the comments on X make clear, players are very much hoping that some of that general tidying up of Monster Hunter Wilds will involve performance optimization, which remains a huge thorn in the side for many.
Incidentally, that thread on X contains some potential advice for those with NVIDIA GPUs - should you be using driver 577.00, this is causing 'frequent' crashing, and so it's a good idea to roll back to a previous version, we're told (v576.88 is recommended).
