TL;DR: Intel's upcoming Nova Lake-AX mobile processors will feature up to 28 CPU cores and 48 Xe3 GPU cores, delivering powerful gaming performance comparable to AMD's Strix Halo APUs. With advanced Xe3 architecture and LPDDR5X support, Nova Lake-AX aims to compete in the enthusiast-grade mobile processor market.

Intel's next-generation Nova Lake-AX processors have been in the headlines over the last 24 hours, and now we have some more news regarding the core count and GPU cores inside of the Strix Halo APU competitor.

In a new post from leaker @OneRaichu, we're hearing that Intel's upcoming Nova Lake-AX enthusiast-grade mobile processors will have up to 28 cores of CPU power, and up to 48 Xe3 GPU cores that will provide some beefy on-the-go gaming performance.

The leaker suggests that Intel's new Nova Lake-AX processors will feature 28 cores in total that are split between 8 P-Cores, 16 E-Cores, and 4 LPE cores. Nova Lake-AX is more impressive on its GPU side, with a purported 384 Execution Units based on Intel's new Xe3P GPU architecture, as well as support for up to 9600/10667MT/s of LPDDR5X memory speed.

AMD has its powerful Strix Halo APU that the new Intel Nova Lake-AX processors will compete against, especially when it comes to the 384 Execution Units (which works out to a huge 48 Xe3 GPU cores). This means that we'll have GPU peformance out of the mobile processors that will equate to some mid-range discrete graphics card performance, just like AMD's Strix Halo APU offerings.

Intel's current Core Ultra 200H mobile processors feature just 8 Xe2 GPU cores in comparison, so we've got a major leap up to 48 Xe3 GPU cores (not just more GPU cores, but the newer Xe3 architecture). This means that we should expect Nova Lake-AX to compete with the RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 8060S integrated GPU inside of Strix Halo, which is more than capable of playing games at high frame rates and resolutions.

The leaker suggests that Intel might not even launch its Nova Lake-AX processors, but I personally would love to see a Strix Halo APU competitor from Team Blue.
