As outlined in a recent developer livestream, Update 7.7 focuses on adding new dynamic encounters to the game. In SWTOR, dynamic encounters are a new type of "scheduled, timed quests" that range from humorous to exciting. For example, carrying baby Tauntauns up a hill, helping a Gonk droid with advertising, or launching Gamorreans into a Sarlacc pit.

"Dynamic Worlds" adds new encounters to Tython, Korriban, Ord Mantell, Hutta, Dromund Kass, Coruscant, and Ilum. Allowing players to engage with a variety of new, timed quests on some of the game's major planets. Broadsword specifies that dynamic content "changes, depending on where your character is in the story," and advises testers to experiment across the game's many different eras.

Game Update 7.7 also focuses on character modernization: improving the definition, textures, and lighting of in-game characters while refining the game's UI and combat, particularly for the Disciple class. The update also advances the Galactic Threads storyline, reintroduces the "Nar Shadda Nightlife" event, adds a new PVP season, along with new customisation options.

Support for SWTOR has been substantial for a thirteen-year-old title. Update 7.7 is the first major update since 7.6's "Galactic Threads", which was released in early December. Broadsword, since taking over from BioWare in 2023, has been determined to modernize the game, introducing a mixture of new story content and upgrades to the game's visuals in each iteration.

Players eager to test out the Update 7.7 content can download the game's Public Test Server on Steam. The typical testing cycle for major updates ranges between 1-2 months - and players can expect the full update to arrive between late May and early June.
