After spending some time playing the Adventure Mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, concerns have become more than apparent with the length of mode and the monotony of it.

Most players that have picked up Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have tried the Adventure Mode by now. When first jumping into it I can say I was running off the hype of finally having having my hands-on Ultimate, but after spending a decent amount of time playing the mode and still not having all of the fighters yet, I feel is a issue that I'm not alone in facing. So after spending around 15 hours in the mode, I had a feeling of unsuspected monotony coming forth, I wished that already had all of the fighters when really I still had quite a long way to go unlock them. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I wished that the Adventure Mode was much shorter or at least that I had access to many more characters in a shorter period of time.

Many owners of Ultimate have chosen to use a few tricks to unlock each of the fighters instead of natively doing it through the story. Professional Super Smash Bros. player and the best player in the world for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U released the above video showcasing how to unlock all the fighters without completing the storyline. So it seems the community is divided on this topic and for good reason, I can honestly say that despite the repetitiveness of Adventure Mode I will still be finishing the campaign, and I also still really enjoy the whole idea of Spirits and the customizations that they bring.

I can see what Nintendo are trying to do with Spirits and I do not think Nintendo should regret the decision of choosing to include Spirits in Ultimate. Perhaps providing players with optional methods of unlocking the fighters in different ways could of improved the process. The fact that some players are opting to use tricks of unlocking the fighters just to avoid Spirits Mode is quite a strong indicator to how some players are feeling about the whole thing.
