Hungrybox, a legend within the Super Smash Bros. community for being one of the best players in the world at Super Smash Bros. Melee, has teased that Nintendo will unveil a Deluxe edition of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
According to Hungrybox, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be getting the Mario Kart 8 treatment by Nintendo, which, for those who don't know or remember, Mario Kart 8 was initially released on the Wii U and later re-released on the Nintendo Switch under the title "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe".
The deluxe version of Mario Kart arrived with all of its DLC already included, more characters, an overhaul to the battle mode, several gameplay improvements, and various other minor changes. It appears Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will soon be getting the same treatment.
Hungrybox quoted a post he did from 2 years ago where he said the next Smash Bros. game "won't be Smash 6, it will be Ultimate Deluxe". The well-renowned Smash player went on in the 2-year-old post to say Deluxe will release with "all characters + stages unlocked as well as 10 new characters and 15 new stages included" and that it will be released for a "Switch Pro".
Hungrybox quoted that post and reaffirmed his position saying Nintendo will unveil this during the upcoming Direct, which at the time of reporting is scheduled to take place in just 2 hours.
Notably, Nintendo states in its description of the Direct, "There will be no updates about Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation," but according to Hungrybox, Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe doesn't fall within that category as it was released on the original Nintendo Switch.
It should be noted that these are simply rumors and that Nintendo hasn't officially announced anything regarding additions to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Take this information with a healthy amount of skepticism.
