Julian Gollop, designer behind XCOM has announced that his studio Snapshot Games will need more time to work on Phoenix Point, and sadly this will mean the games release date will have to be pushed back until June 2019.
According to the unlisted video that was released to Phoenix Point's YouTube Channel, Gollop wants to concentrate on the expansion of the development team and "maintain our focus on quality." Gollop explains that the markets expectations have changed and that gamers today want much more from a game, this ties into how "Phoenix Point has become a bigger game. In order to realise this potential we need to push back the target release date to June 2019."
Gollop owns up to the progress of his title being quite slower than he initially wanted, here is his honest opinion on the matter "To be honest, this has been a slower process than I wanted, but I felt that we needed the best talent that we could find. I am glad to say that we now have 35 great developers in our Sofia studio, and as a consequence of our recent, excellent exposure we are attracting offers of help from game developers around the world."
Gollop also says that previews of his build will be sent out to any backers that have already pledged support for his project.
