Battlegrounds sits atop of the most-played games on Steam and is one of the best-selling games of all time (smashing CS:GO and Dota 2 from their invincible perks is a BIG DEAL), but its creator didn't have faith in the beginning.

Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene recently talked with Polygon, where he was settling into his "whirlwind year". Greene said: "A lot of the [internal team], they really couldn't believe it. There were a few veterans of the game industry that were [saying], like, 'No, no. 200,000 [or] 300,000 the first year.' But then when we hit that first million, there were a lot of smiles around the office".

Greene added that when he first proposed the game to Bluehole, he was confident PUBG would hit 1 million sales in the first month. But even with that optimism, he didn't think there would be 10 million sales this quickly. He added: "I mean, we're walking around wondering why we've been this successful. You know, I had faith in my own game mode ... but [10] million copies and number one on Steam in just under five months I think we're at now? It's just crazy to me".

The creator of PUBG says that we could expect up to 100 million sales of Battlegrounds, which would make it one of the most successful games of all time.
