TL;DR: A Portuguese FNAC listing suggests GTA 6's base edition may cost €89.99, with Premium and Collector's Editions at €119.99 and €199.99, respectively, ahead of official pre-orders on June 25. This price exceeds earlier estimates and reflects the game's high development costs, but remains unconfirmed by Rockstar.

The price of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been one of the most debated topics in gaming over the past two years, and a new listing from a major European retailer may have finally answered the question. Portuguese branch of FNAC, a multinational retail chain spanning France, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, and several other markets, has reportedly listed GTA 6 at €89.99 for the base edition, as first spotted by user fdst1983 on the ResetEra forums.

The listing also shows a Premium Edition at €119.99 and what appears to be a Collector's Edition at €199.99. The screenshot reveals several Rockstar Games SKUs, all tied to the confirmed launch date of November 19, 2026, which adds some weight to the leak's credibility. That said, the listing is unofficial, and Rockstar has not confirmed any pricing yet. The real numbers will come when pre-orders officially open on June 25.

We've been tracking GTA 6's pricing situation for a while. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter was among the first to suggest a $100 price point, while Bank of America predicted an $80 launch price that would set a new industry baseline. Even Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted at a $70 to $80 range, stopping well short of the three-figure mark many gamers feared.

At €89.99, the FNAC listing lands comfortably above both of those estimates. It mirrors exactly what Nintendo did with Mario Kart World on the Switch 2, which launched at the same €89.99 price point and sent shockwaves through the industry. If Rockstar locks in that figure, it would essentially validate Nintendo's move and open the door for other major publishers to follow suit.

Is Rockstar justified? Arguably, yes. GTA 6 is reportedly the most expensive game ever made, with development costs estimated at up to $3 billion. The game has been in production for over a decade, features a massive open world, and will anchor a GTA Online ecosystem expected to generate hundreds of millions annually. If any game has earned the right to break the $70 barrier, it's this one.

The argument against is equally straightforward: games were already getting more expensive, and pushing the standard edition past €80 sets a precedent that less deserving titles will rush to match. CD Projekt RED, Ubisoft, and others have already signaled they'd welcome a higher baseline, and a €90 launch of GTA 6 would give them all the justification they need.

For now, treat the FNAC listing as an unconfirmed leak rather than an official announcement. Retailers have previously posted placeholder prices for GTA 6, including an earlier Swiss listing that was quickly pulled. The date to remember is still June 25th, when Rockstar opens pre-orders, and the actual price becomes official.
