Rockstar confirmed that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 will open on Thursday, June 25, via the PlayStation and Xbox digital storefronts, as well as select physical retailers.
Following that announcement, rumors have begun to fly about the price of GTA 6, as Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, have yet to unveil it.
The price for GTA 6 is likely the most talked-about thing in gaming currently, as endless threads of price speculation populate both Reddit, X, and other various forums and channels. For quite some time, GTA 6 has received various pricing predictions, with some conflating the hype surrounding the title as justification for Take-Two/Rockstar to charge $100 for the standard edition, marking a significant jump from $69.99, the current standard for a AAA title.
Others have said Rockstar and Take-Two will maintain the $70 price point in order not to price out many of their customers, with many of these theories being founded in comments made by Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, who referred to the $70 price point when discussing AAA games, which GTA 6 will unquestionably be.
Although recent leaks have claimed Rockstar SKUs have appeared on a digital storefront with the following price points: €89.99 and €199.99, leading to speculation about Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's editions. These SKUs were labeled "RS1" through to "RS5".

Rampant speculation fueled the theory these listings were for Grand Theft Auto 6, and when converting the Euros into USD, the prices shake out: GTA 6 Standard Edition $79.99, GTA 6 Deluxe Edition $99.99, GTA 6 Premium Edition $109.99, GTA 6 Collector's Edition $189.99 to $200.
However, these speculated prices have been commented on by @billbil_kun, an investigator for Dealabs, a renowned gaming industry insider with a solid track record. billbil_kun writes, "Those SKUs are just placeholders bcz EAN codes (like UPC in US) aren't belonging to Take2 traditional games prefixes. So those prices are random ones."
This isn't totally unusual for an online retailer, as it was only in March 2025 that a Swiss retailer listed Grand Theft Auto 6 for 99 Swiss francs, which converted to about $112. While I have no evidence to back this claim beyond the frequency with which these placeholder listings appear, I suspect these online retailers are aware of the reporting that occurs when they list, which undoubtedly drives traffic to them and, therefore, sales. However, there have been legitimate leaks through online retailers as well, making it quite difficult to sift the wheat from the chaff.
