Japanese games company Koei Tecmo has enjoyed record-breaking success throughout FY25, leading to all-time net profits, strong operating income, and higher-than-ever game sales.

Koei Tecmo's full-year FY25 results show record-breaking game unit sales for the period, leading to new milestones for net profit and a high standing for operating profit earnings. The company released multiple new titles throughout FY25, leading to 14.1 million game sales throughout the timeline. That's a +84% year-over-year increase in total game unit sales.
The high volume sales were driven principally by huge hits like Pokopia, which was confirmed to have sold 2.2 million copies in just 4 days and was eyed as a potential system-seller by Wedbush Securities. The group also saw strong sales of first-party hit NiOh 3, which sold 1 million copies in 14 days.

The Japanese publisher released over 7 titles throughout FY25, with the highest sales period, Q4'FY25, coinciding with the release of Pokemon Pokopia, NiOh 3, and Winning Post 10 2026. In Q3'FY25, which coincides with the Holiday 2025 calendar period, Koei Tecmo released games like Ninja Gaiden 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment; combined with discounts and sales from two other titles having been released a quarter prior, the company sold 3.14 million games during this period.

Koei Tecmo's full FY25 was so successful that after a single year, the group is already almost halfway to its 3-year game sales target.
The company's 4th Medium-Term Management (MTM) plan laid out an ambitious sales goal of 30 million games sold across a three-year span from FY25 through FY27, but last year's games exceeded expectations so much that the target is now 47% complete.
Shares of the group fell nearly -5% after the earnings report released, and Koei Tecmo stock is currently down -9.61% in 5-day trading. The company released its report on April 27, 2026, at 16:00 JST.
