Bungie's stylish extraction shooter has made a splash on the bestsellers charts in the US, where it came in the #4 spot in total dollar sales revenue.

New data from Circana director Mat Piscatella gives indications of Marathon's success. According to the listings, Marathon was the 4th best-earning game in the US throughout March 2026 in terms of revenues from game sales, not just raw sales volume.

It's also very important to note that Pokopia's digital sales aren't included on this list--had they been, Pokopia might have been nearer to the top, as Nintendo themselves had confirmed Pokopia's mighty 2.2 million sales in just 4 days. It's also worth mentioning that Crimson Desert's digital sales weren't included, and as we know, the game sold 2 million copies in just 1 day.

"4 new releases ranked among the top 5 best-selling games of March on the combined physical & panel participant digital chart. Joining MLB The Show 26 (1st) and WWE 2K26 (3rd) were Marathon (4th) and Pokémon Pokopia (physical only, 5th)," Piscatella wrote on BlueSky.

"Crimson Desert, MLB The Show 26 and Pokémon Pokopia led all titles in total projected full game spending, with MLB The Show 26 ranking 1st in combined physical and Digital Leader Panel participating publisher tracked digital sales."

While neither Sony nor Bungie have announced official figures for Marathon's sales, groups like Alinea Analytics estimate Marathon sold 1.2 million copies on all platforms in its first 19 days.

Sony's upcoming Fiscal Year 2025 earnings call might reveal key details about Marathon's performance on all platforms, and it should be noted the game was sold at the $39.99 price point rather than at the full-priced $69.99 MSRP of new games.
