Circana's latest sales charts indicate that Sony is the leading platform-holder/publisher in the US in terms of the number of best-earning games, with the company beating out competitors like Nintendo and Xbox in some sales metrics throughout March 2026.

Sony is on a roll, or it was throughout March 2026. According to the latest data from Circana director Mat Piscatella, Sony Interactive Entertainment had 5 games in the US top 20 best-selling titles of March, more titles than other major industry players.
The PlayStation games lineup includes MLB The Show 26, which was #1 top-selling game of the month in the US by gross sales revenue even with Nintendo and Xbox sales excluded, as well as Bungie's new shooter Marathon at #4, Ghost of Yotei at #14, Helldivers 2 at #16, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach at #17.

There's key context needed to better understand this chart. Remember that digital sales data for Nintendo's games aren't included or reflected in the rankings--if they were, these placements could look a lot different, and it's highly likely that Pokopia would beat Marathon and possibly even WWE 2K26 on this list.
Another point is that some of the games on Sony's list were discounted at the time, including Helldivers 2, which was on sale for $29.99 throughout March, as well as Ghost of Yotei, which got a discount on PSN as well as on PlayStation Direct.
Death Stranding 2's catapulted position on this list is a result of the game's launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Store, both of which are included.
Other discounted games include Black Ops 7, which was on sale for $38 on the PS Store for a week or so, as well as NBA 2K26, EA Sports FC26 and Madden NFL 26, all of which received steep discounts.
Capcom is enjoying breakout success with its games on this list, with Resident Evil Requiem breaking 5 million sales in less than a week and maintaining a strong position at #2 on March's charts. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection likewise performed well, ranking at #7 on the list in its debut month.
All of these standings reinforce that each of the publishers on this list had a strong performance throughout March 2026 and we may see those results reflecting in upcoming earnings calls with respective executive management teams.
