Borderlands Mobile pops up on the App Store as part of a limited-time test.

Borderlands is getting a new free-to-play version for mobile, but the full game isn't out yet. The game was shadow dropped on the iOS App Store today in a kind of public beta test, giving users the opportunity to try the game and share the feedback with the developers.
The project is being worked on by Take-Two Interactive's wholly-owned Zynga unit, under the group's NaturalMotion development studio. Gearbox, the original creators of the Borderlands series, is helping guide the F2P game's process with creative input.
"We are always exploring ways to introduce Borderlands to new audiences. Zynga's NaturalMotion studio is currently conducting a limited-time test for an untitled Borderlands mobile project, with Gearbox providing creative guidance on the franchise's design, history, and lore. We hope that players enjoy this new Borderlands experience and look forward to their feedback," Zynga said in a statement to IGN.
According to the listing, Borderlands Mobile will deliver action-packed looter shooter chaos, promising that the game has been fully optimized for mobile devices. There are boss battles as well as various mission types like Campaign Missions, Tower of Terror, and Circle of Slaughter.
The game also clocks in at a beefy 2.9GB in size.
There's no official word on when Borderlands Mobile will be ready for a full release, and neither Take-Two Interactive nor Zynga have spoken about the project--not even to investors in quarterly earnings updates.
Gearbox is currently working on new updates for Borderlands 4, as well as developing the game's anticipated Switch 2 release, which has been put on ice until the studio can figure out the best way to tackle the port.
