The next Dead or Alive game is now in the works at Koei Tecmo as more games companies look to revivify classic franchises.

Koei Tecmo delivered a big surprise during today's State of Play live stream: Dead or Alive 7 is officially in development.
"The dawn of a new chapter awaits," the publisher said in the stream, showcasing next-gen renditions of Dead or Alive's Hayabusa and Kasumi battling it out. "The development of a new Dead or Alive game has started. We'll have more exciting content soon so please hang tight for further updates," Dead or Alive series producer Yosuke Hayashi said in the broadcast.
Team Ninja's Dead or Alive 6 is also getting a big update with a next-gen re-release called Dead or Alive 6: Last Round.
In an interesting move, the devs are also offering a free-to-play version of the game called Core Fighters alongside the re-release.
Last Round will launch on June 25, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
More details on Dead or Alive 6 can be found below, and Team Ninja/Koei Tecmo promise to reveal more specifics on Dead or Alive 7 sometime soon.
DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round is the definitive version of DEAD OR ALIVE 6 which originally released in 2019 and shipped over 900,000 copies worldwide.
The game has been optimised for the latest hardware, while also giving players of the original DEAD OR ALIVE 6 standard edition the ability to carry over DLC costumes, premium tickets, and save data.
DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round includes the original 24 characters alongside five characters from the game's DLC lineup* (Nyotengu, Phase 4, Momiji, Rachel, and Tamaki).
In addition, popular characters such as Kasumi and Marie Rose will receive five costumes inspired by other Team NINJA titles such as NINJA GAIDEN 3 Razor's Edge and DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme Venus Vacation.
Furthermore, a dedicated Photo Mode has also been added, enabling players the ability to capture every angle of their favourite fighters by exploring brand-new features such as "character position" and "pose selection".
