End of an X3D era: AMD reportedly cans Ryzen 7 5700X3D, the last 3D V-Cache CPU for AM4 PCs

If a report from a Dutch tech site is correct, AMD is no longer shipping the Ryzen 5700X3D to retailers - and so existing stock is all that's left now.

TL;DR: AMD has reportedly stopped shipping the Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor, at least in the Netherlands according to a new report. This marks the end of the AM4 3D V-Cache line-up, and in fact pricing has already been rising with the 5700X3D - indicating that stock was dwindling. This remains a rumor for now, though, and AMD hasn't officially confirmed it.

AMD's Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor has reached the end of the line, at least according to a report from a Dutch tech site.

This comes from Tweakers (as highlighted by VideoCardz) which claims that 'several' online stores have confirmed that the Ryzen 5700X3D isn't being shipped to retail outlets by AMD any longer.

So, any remaining stock is all that's left - in theory - and that explains why prices have been going up of late (in the Netherlands, anyway). Tweakers observes that the Ryzen 5700X3D has risen by around 15% in recent weeks, presumably as the inventory of the CPU started to dwindle.

The tech site tried to confirm the move, but AMD wouldn't be drawn to comment, which is only to be expected in these situations.

If it's true, this will be the last of the X3D line-up to be available for AM4 motherboards. The Ryzen 5800X3D reached its end of life a year ago (the 5700X3D is a slower clocked and more affordable version of that original 3D V-Cache chip - the very first one that AMD launched back in April 2022).

There was also the 5600X3D, which as you no doubt recall was a Micro Center exclusive, but that's no longer available either (and hasn't been for some time - it also vanished last year).

We've moved onto Zen 5 series 3D V-Cache chips now, of course, and you may recall that a recent rumor suggested AMD might be mulling the launch of a new 16-core Ryzen 9000 X3D processor with two banks of cache (one per chiplet). This has proved to be false - at least according to a second leaker - but there may be a Ryzen 9700X3D in the works, funnily enough.

Naturally, that would be a welcome addition to AMD's range as a more affordable current-gen X3D option, though it likely won't turn up until next year.
