Grounded 2 is seeing huge reception on Steam and has topped Valve's store as the number 1 best-seller.

Grounded 2 hasn't even released yet and it's already breaking sales milestones. Obsidian just launched their survival sequel into early access today where it's making waves on Steam. According to Steam Charts, there are actually two versions of Grounded 2 that are taking up the top spots on Steam.
The base game is sitting at #1, and the Founder's Edition is at #2. What surprised me the most, however, was the Founder's Pack upgrade was actually at #5. This means Grounded 2 has taken up 3 of the top best-selling spots on Steam (but only two of these are actual versions of the game).
At the time of writing, Grounded is also #28 on the most-played Steam games with over 49,000 peak concurrent users today, the day of release. Grounded 2 actually beat the first game's concurrent peak already, with Grounded 1 hitting just 32,000 peak users.
So what does this data tell us? Microsoft's business plan of releasing multiple versions of games has been a successful one. We've seen this strategy pay off with the releases of Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones on PlayStation 5, where multiple versions of those games would top Sony's PlayStation Store sales and pre-order charts.
This trend could continue once Grounded 2 releases for PlayStation consoles, but for now, the $30 game is still in early access on Xbox and PC.
