TL;DR: Microsoft has more games in the PlayStation Store's global top 10 pre-order charts than Sony, indicating the success of its strategy to release first-party games on PlayStation. This includes titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones, which have multiple versions available, showing strong demand from PlayStation gamers.

Microsoft typically has more games in the PlayStation Store's global top 10 pre-order charts than Sony does, new findings show.

Last year, Microsoft had more first-party games on PlayStation's best-seller list than Sony did. Now the same is true for PlayStation Store pre-order charts across select geographies. This new data suggests that Microsoft's plan to break Xbox platform exclusivity and bring its first-party games to PlayStation is continuing to pay off.

To get a better idea of how Microsoft's games are performing on PlayStation when it comes to pre-orders, I simply scanned the PS Store pages for various global regions. The data shows the top 10 pre-ordered games on the PlayStation Store across 14 different locales. According to the data, there were more Xbox games in all worldwide top 10 pre-order lists than there were PlayStation games.

It's logical that there would be more Xbox games on these list considering there are 3 different Microsoft games coming to PlayStation soonish (Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Doom: The Dark Ages). These games also have multiple versions; Forza has three separate SKUs on the PS Store pre-order chart, whereas Indiana Jones has two SKUs on the list.

So what does this tell us? PlayStation gamers will indeed buy Xbox first-party games, especially high-profile marquee titles like Forza Horizon, which has been Xbox exclusive for many years. Microsoft has enjoyed success with its new sales-first strategy according to our own findings, and there's rumblings that once-exclusive games like Sea of Thieves have sold over 1 million copies on PlayStation.
