New Hellraiser Revival game: Clive Barker involved, Pinhead star Doug Bradley returns

A new Hellraiser game is in the works with original series creator Clive Barker and Pinhead star Doug Bradley involved.

Hellraiser Revival looks like it could upend the way we think about singleplayer horror film game tie-ins. The Hellraiser game feels like a different beast to most horror adaptations. Not only is Revival entirely singleplayer, but it also tells a new cinematic story within the Hellraiser universe--based on the trailer, it looks like modern day sin addicts called Hell Raisers are deliberately trying to summon the Cenobites.

Revival features all the callbacks from the films: The gleaming golden puzzle box, the terrifying undead Cenobites including original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley reprising his role, and of course lots of torture and chains. It'll be a first-person action game with melee and shooter mechanics, the screenshots reveal.

Hellraiser Revival is being developed by Boss Team Games, the same studio that made Evil Dead: The Game, and Clive Barker had direct involvement in helping shape the game's storyline, characters, and overall themes.

Here's what Barker said about Revival:

"Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings.

They've immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence--the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque--and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold.

"I'm eager for both the curious and the damned to experience this new chapter in the Hellraiser mythos, where every moment balances on the brink of nightmare and revelation."

"Working alongside Clive to create tense gameplay and a new story that delves into the twisted depths of pain and pleasure has been a real treat. We look forward to opening up the gates of hell," said Saber CEO Matthew Karch.

No release date has been set for Hellraiser Revival, but the game will release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
