Apple's upcoming ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air smartphone will reportedly have 12GB of RAM, up from the 8GB of RAM in previous rumors.

The new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air with 12GB of RAM will bring it closer to the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro, which is said to have 12GB of RAM. The new rumors suggest that the base models will continue on with 8GB of RAM, while the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max will all have 12GB of RAM.
Weibo-based leaker "Fixed Focus Digital" says that the three higher-end iPhone 17 smartphones will have 12GB of RAM, while the base iPhone 17 sports 8GB of RAM. This creates a much wider gap between the non-Pro iPhones, as the iPhone 16 Plus featured the same A-series processor and RAM configuration as the base iPhone 16.
Apple iPhone 17 family rumored RAM configurations:
- iPhone 17: 8GB RAM
- iPhone 17 Air: 12GB RAM
- iPhone 17 Pro: 12GB RAM
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12GB RAM
In previous reports, Apple's ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air smartphone will be just 5.5mm thick at its thinnest point, passing the iPhone 6 at its thinnest point with 6.9mm. In order to get the iPhone this thin, Apple has had to make some compromises including decreased battery life, a single rear-facing camera, a single speaker, and the A19 processor over the A19 Pro.
