Bethesda could be working on more than one new Fallout game, and it sounds like Fallout 3 remastered could be among the lineup.

Bethesda parent ZeniMax was recently hit by the Xbox cuts, leading to various team layoffs, the cancellation of an important MMORPG project, and the departure of a studio director. The company is currently riding the strong current of Oblivion remaster sales alongside Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76.
While Bethesda Game Studios continues work on The Elder Scrolls 6, there are now reports that work is underway on multiple Fallout games. Bethesda has said in the past that Elder Scrolls 6 comes first, then the next numbered Fallout, so one of the new games isn't the mainline Fallout 5.

The news comes by way of Video Game Chronicle journalist Jordan Middler, who joined a recent Friends Per Second podcast to tease one of the new Fallout games is Fallout 3 remastered:
"There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including as far as I'm aware, the one you've all been wanting. But it's not far enough along to make an announcement that people will be playing it any time soon. Fallout 5 should've been day one, and they didn't bother.
"Much like Fallout, another franchise which is huge that they're doing nothing with at the moment, essentially. Fallout 76 exists, but the fact that Fallout 5 wasn't rushed immediately into production when that all happened, it's just crazy. They just have too many irons in the fire and it's all kind of coming home to roost.
"Fallout is the big one. I cannot believe that they didn't immediately start work on a Fallout 5. Because Todd's not going to make it, Todd's not going the game, he's not going to make it to that point in life."
Bethesda has yet to confirm or announce Fallout 3 remastered, but the game was listed in the leaked documents from the FTC v Microsoft trial of 2023.
