The Nintendo Switch 2 can add another highly anticipated title to its growing library of third-party games, as Nintendo and IO Interactive have confirmed the release of 007 First Light in a new announcement trailer.
007 First Light has received a new announcement trailer posted to the Nintendo of America YouTube channel, where we see a young James Bond get himself into some trouble that I'm sure he is going to enjoy working his way out of in a not-so-graceful way.
For those who don't know, 007 First Light is being developed by Danish studio IO Interactive, famous for the Hitman franchise, and First Light will be a new origin story on 007 that focuses on narratively driven action that is not linked to any previous Bond media, meaning this a fresh new take on 007.
Notably, this is the first fresh take on Bond in gaming since 2012's 007 Legends. Developer IO Interactive explained to Rolling Stone that the 007 experience in First Light will be very different from their renowned Hitman games. The developer says gamers can expect much more over-the-top action, emotions, and theatrics.
"This Bond is not a super polished diamond. He's not well-versed with his [tuxedos]; definitely not well-versed with the martinis yet. He's a rough diamond. And it's this young man with his inner ethos. It's a young man that sometimes is maybe reckless, and it's a young man that maybe doesn't know yet when to push too much or when to stand back a bit. So, he's learning these things the hard way being introduced to the shady, dark world of espionage," said IO Interactive's CEO, Hakan Abrak to Rolling Stone
007 First Light is scheduled to release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
