Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been trending since May the 4th, with players flocking back to the 2017 title to revisit large-scale warfare in the Star Wars universe. Nothing quite captures the film-like experience offered by the Battlefront series, and that magic still shows up in 2025, setting a new all-time record for peak players on Steam as of May 24.
The previous all-time peak for the game was 10,489 in 2021, shortly after it was made available on Steam. As an Origin exclusive until June 2020, there are no figures to highlight the number of players on PC post-launch. However, as many would remember, the game had a rollercoaster first couple of years.
Fast forward to 2025, and the demand for a Star Wars shooter has never been higher. At 12,384 players, the game has reached an all-time peak for concurrent players on Steam. The effort has also been enough to slide Battlefront 2 into the top-selling PS4 games on the PlayStation store.
After years of updates to remedy the game's woes, what remains of Battlefront 2 is a genuinely good game. The title more closely resembles classic entries to the Battlefield franchise, and in many ways, it is the most authentic recreation of the Star Wars films available in videogame format. Whether you're charging into battle alongside your clone brethren on Geonosis, or helplessly bracing for impact against Lord Vader on the Death Star, the game looks, sounds, and plays fantastically for an eight-year-old game.
To join in on the fun and forward the movement for a Battlefront 3, you can easily find a cheap copy on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
