Modern keyboards are moving toward minimal TKL designs with a compact 60% or 75% form factor - a direction born from on-the-go gamers, the rise of competitive gaming, and more and more people firing up the latest titles on their laptops. Naturally, there's still a market for full-sized gaming keyboards with a numpad and additional functionality like dedicated media controls, customizable buttons and keys, and context-sensitive dials.

At Computex 2025, we got to go hands-on with be quiet!'s first premium gaming keyboard, the Dark Mount. Yes, it's a full-sized non-TKL board with a NumPad, but there's a lot more going on than that. The NumPad is detachable and can be locked into place on the left or right side of the keyboard (via a sturdy and impressive mechanism) or even be used as a standalone NumPad.
When it is connected to the Dark Mount, you also have access to customizable Display Keys (or buttons) that can be used to quickly fire up apps or other functions. The Media Dock on the top of the keyboard can also be placed on either side, offering tactile media controls and an impressive customizable LCD screen.

The soft wrist rests (made from a special cooling material) are also magnetically detachable and can be arranged in several different ways to support FPS gamers who play with an angled board. The good news is that this level of customizability and thoughtful design applies to the inside of the keyboard, which is powered by the company's in-house developed Silent Switches, which have an excellent feel.

The Double-Shot PBT keycaps also feel as great as the Dark Mount looks. Both the switches and the keycaps are hot-swappable for those who want to go that route. As popular as TKL boards continue to be, it's fantastic to see companies like be quiet! deliver full-sized keyboards with this level of premium features and customization.
