The previous reports were true: Assassin's Creed Shadows is indeed the second best-earning game in the franchise when it comes to launch sales.

Ubisoft recently announced its FY25 earnings results, and with it came an update on Assassin's Creed Shadows' overall performance. Based on early indicators, we already knew the game was successful, but now we have more of an idea of how Shadows weighs against other Assassin's Creed games.
According to Ubisoft, Shadows had the second-best day 1 sales revenues in the series, with only Assassin's Creed Valhalla outperforming (for reference, Valhalla went on to make over $1 billion in consumer revenues in just two years). Shadows made history for Ubisoft as the best Assassin's Creed property in day one performance on the PlayStation Store. At the time of writing, Shadows is #21 out of the top best-selling PS Store games.
Perhaps the most impressive metric outside of sales is just how engaged that players are with Shadows--users logged over 160 million hours of playtime in Shadows since release. Ubisoft plans to launch a new Shadows expansion, Claws of Awaji, later this year in the hope of sparking more engagement.
"Assassin's Creed Shadows launched on March 20, delivering the second-highest Day 1 sales revenue in franchise history--second only to Assassin's Creed® Valhalla--and setting a new record for Ubisoft's Day 1 performance on the PlayStation digital store.
"Player sentiment has been overwhelmingly positive, with an average score1 of 91/100 across first-party stores, reflecting the game's excellent quality. To date, consumer spending has clearly outperformed Assassin's Creed Odyssey with the player count also outperforming. Players have logged 160 million hours in Assassin's Creed Shadows, underscoring its engaging gameplay and the enduring appeal of the franchise.
"The game's performance reaffirms the strength and resilience of the Assassin's Creed brand, backed by a strong community response that highlights that the team delivered an experience that resonates with long-time fans and new players alike."
