The closed beta preview for Funcom's upcoming Dune: Awakening has ended, during which content creators and media spent time with the game's first 20 hours. However, the large-scale beta weekend is coming right up, providing more opportunities for players to jump into the new MMORPG.

Early impressions of the closed beta skew largely positive, praising the game's "exceptionally well-crafted world" and its faithful adherence to the source material. Gameplay-wise, players also praised the game's PvP, PvE, survival, and politics - "it's all here and it works," a creator said.
Dune: Awakening will be heading into its large-scale beta testing this weekend, running from May 9-12. While not an open beta, Funcom has encouraged players to sign up on the website for the chance to participate. Players can also wishlist and request access to the beta through the game's Steam page to increase the likelihood of acceptance.
This weekend is set to be an active one for Funcom, as the studio works to refine the game ahead of its June 10 release. Dune: Awakening was originally slated for launch May 15, but was delayed by three weeks to provide more time to act on beta feedback, and improve the game's quality at launch.
The June 10, 2025 launch date is only for PC, with a console release date yet to be announced - but estimated for late 2025 to early 2026.

The game, which has been available to pre-order since March 24, is available at $49.99 for the standard edition, $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition, and $89.99 for the Ultimate Edition. The game will not have a subscription, and follows a mixture of the live service model (free updates with content & features) mixed with optional paid DLC available through the game's season pass.
To jump into the large-scale beta weekend, you can request access through the game's Steam page or the main website. You can also tune into Funcom's Global LAN Party via Twitch on May 10 for additional chances to play the beta.
