Rumors continue to swirl about the potential Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake, and as well as some leaked screenshots (obviously add your own seasoning there), we've now heard something direct from Bethesda on X - and while it's far from confirmation, it's not a denial either, which has again prompted excitement from gamers.
Check the above post (flagged by The Gamer, via Rock Paper Shotgun) to peruse the exchange between a denizen of X called J Cosmic and the Bethesda Support account.
As you can see, the support rep believes the poster is talking about the existing version of Oblivion, when in fact they mean the remake.
When that's clarified, the rep apologizes for the confusion, and says that: "We have no official information on an Oblivion remake."
The exciting bit here is that this isn't a denial of the existence of the Oblivion remake, which has been rumored to be debuting in April since the month kicked off.
It's a typical swerve around the issue that might be used by a company staff member, or perhaps even a slight hint that the remake is indeed in the cards. As in it could be read that the rep does have info, just nothing that can be 'officially' shared (yet).
If the remake wasn't happening, and Bethesda was going to mention the project in any capacity, it would surely want to bring the current rumor train to a screeching halt.
Mainly because that locomotive has been gathering a lot of steam in recent days, as various leaks have speculated that an April launch is what Bethesda is aiming for, and seemingly next week most likely (after an Elder Scrolls Online anniversary event comes to an end). And on top of that, we've just been treated to those leaked screen grabs (mentioned at the outset) as well, showing off the Unreal Engine 5 upgrade (in theory).
