The front I/O section of the Cosmos Alpha has an LED button, a power button, and a reset button on the bottom right lip. For input, the Cosmos Alpha has a combo 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port, plus four USB Type-A ports.

Moving down in front is an accessible full-length slide-out dust filter that fits nicely between the Cosmos Alpha's two large feet.

The rear side panel has a large mesh cutout for mounting up to three 360mm radiators, which is pretty impressive given how thin the stance is.

The rear of the Cosmos Alpha features a beauty panel to cover all the rear I/O cables, allowing them to exit the bottom nicely.

The front is dominated by the two pre-installed 200mm fans, which serve as the front air intake.

Both the tempered glass side panel and the rear mesh panel swing out, adding to the premium look and feel.

Inside the Cosmos Alpha, there is ample space for a variety of PC hardware installations. The case supports motherboards from mini-ITX (mITX, a small motherboard form factor) to EEB (Enterprise Electronics Bay, a large server/workstation form factor). Graphics cards (GPUs, devices that render images and video) up to 400mm in length can be accommodated without issue.

Once inside the Cosmos Alpha, the very first thing we encounter is the GPU (graphics processing unit, specialized hardware for rendering graphics) support bracket, which is secured with 2 screws on each side and can be moved up or down as needed. A knob in the center allows for more precise, fine-tuned relocation of the support bracket.


The Cosmos Alpha offers the option to install the PSU in either the top location or the more traditional bottom-mount configuration. Additionally, the case accommodates a dual PSU setup if needed. Cooler Master has incorporated a sliding, removable motherboard tray with markings to support both air-cooling and AIO water-cooling configurations, enhancing installation flexibility.

Moving to the rear of the Cosmos Alpha, we have a cover plate that covers the motherboard portion of the back panel, which comes off with two screws. To the right of the motherboard mount are mounts for either 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives, alongside a pre-wired 4-fan/5-port ARGB (addressable RGB, customizable lighting) controller (a hub that allows you to control multiple fans and lighting effects).

Once the motherboard cover plate is removed, the case reveals full support for BTF (Back To Future, reverse-connector, meaning connectors are on the rear side of the motherboard for cleaner cable management) motherboards. The brackets on the side can support either a single 420mm radiator or three 360mm radiators (liquid-cooling hardware). With the potential to install four 360mm radiators, including one in either the basement (the lower compartment of the case designed for hiding power supplies and cables) or the roof (top section of the case), depending on PSU (power supply unit) placement, the Cosmos Alpha provides significant cooling flexibility. The only notable omission is the lack of support for an inverted motherboard orientation (where the motherboard is mounted upside-down for alternate cooling and cable routing).

Building within the Cosmos Alpha proved to be a smooth process, and the premium features implemented by Cooler Master contribute to a high-quality overall experience. The included sliding motherboard tray made installing the main components straightforward and allowed easy access to the back of the board for CPU cooler installation. Cable management was aided by generous cutouts and Velcro straps behind the motherboard tray, which helped keep power and data cables tidy and out of sight. One unique aspect of the build was routing the connections for the dual USB-C front panel, which required two separate headers on the motherboard - users should double-check compatibility ahead of time. Installing larger GPUs was easy thanks to the adjustable support bracket, but care was needed to fit in very long graphics cards without interfering with front radiator placement. Drive installation was simple with snap-in mounting trays, though users with multiple 3.5-inch drives may wish for additional toolless options. Overall, assembling a system in the Cosmos Alpha was intuitive, but it's helpful for builders to plan cable runs and double-check the number of motherboard USB headers if taking full advantage of the case's front I/O features.

Using the Case Test Hardware, which consists of an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-core, 16-threaded AM5 CPU (Central Processing Unit, the main processor that executes instructions) on a GIGABYTE AORUS B850 motherboard, being cooled by a Cooler Master ML360 Flux 360mm AIO (All-In-One, a self-contained liquid cooler) in the roof location of the Cosmos Alpha. Moving on to the CPU temperatures, averaging just 77.9°C with a maximum temperature of 82.2°C, which for a Ryzen 7 7700X is not bad since all of the AM5 CPUs are meant to run at the razor's edge in regards to their thermal threshold while trying to maintain the highest CPU clock possible, which was well over 5GHz. Going over to the Zotac Trinity RTX 3090 GPU (graphics processing unit, used to render images and perform graphical computations), the max temperature recorded was 80°C, with an average temperature of 78.6°C, showing that both the CPU and GPU benefited from this airflow setup, mainly due to the 2 200mm fans that are included as front air intake in the Cosmos Alpha.
