Manor Lords is a game from a lone indie developer, and rather incredibly, it raced up the rankings of the most wish-listed titles on Steam - before taking the number one spot as the most-wanted game eventually.

Well, if you've been waiting for the game - on Steam or otherwise, as many folks evidently have - over the weekend the game had its release date announced as April 26.

So, it'll be out a week on Friday, but it's already building up quite the head of steam (so to speak) hype-wise.

In case you're unfamiliar with Manor Lords, it's a city builder set in medieval times with a deep economic and social engine, plus you've also got tactical battles (Total War-style) on the side.

Jumping on YouTube to get some opinions from those who've already been provided with early access keys for the game, we found one enthusiastic critic who lauded Manor Lords as the best game since Settlers III, and stated that they couldn't see any game being better than this in 2024.

High praise indeed, and Manor Lords is described as highly immersive, with a pretty incredible level of attention to detail - and the tactical battle system (not aired in the previous demo) works well, too.

It's hard to find negative early feedback at this point, in fact (though we're sure it's out there - inevitably, this is the internet we're talking about).

We've got to say this is one game we're very keen to give a spin, particularly given that as already mentioned, this is the work of a lone developer (somehow) - which marks it out as a very rare achievement in the world of modern gaming (with dev teams the size of movie production crews). Roll on the end of April.
