Instagram has been all over the news as of late, mostly due to the app being updated with a bunch of new features (dark mode) and some features even removed. Now the PC version is getting some love, not a lot of love, just a little bit.
Obviously Instagram is predominately aimed towards mobile and its extremely popular app, meaning that the PC version falls behind in features and updates. Most Instagram users are on mobile, but there is still a small portion of users who enjoy browsing the website version. Today is PC users' lucky day as it has been discovered that Instagrams Direct messaging, or DM's for short, is working on PC.
Jane Manchun Wong, who also found out that Instagram is testing a new 'Group Story' feature, managed to get Instagram Direct for desktop to show up through digging around in the source code.
Judging from the images she has posted, Instagram's Direct Messaging will look very much like Facebook Messenger for PC. Contacts located to the left and the chat box taking up majority of the screen real-estate. As noted by TheNextWeb, having a direct messaging feature on the desktop version of Instagram could provide extremely useful for content creators or business people who need to respond to numerous amounts of people.
The features that the Instagram app already has are slowly bleeding over to the desktop version, but unfortunately, and still to this day, users cannot upload photos via desktop. A simple question should be posed to Instagram for this, but "why though?"
