TL;DR: Diablo IV Season 14 introduces Mythic Uniques 3.0, allowing all Unique items to have perfect affixes and boosted powers. Players can craft these using seasonal currency and even reroll their affixes. Existing Mythic Items are becoming nerfed Iconic Mythics, changing endgame item dynamics significantly. Season 14 starts June 30.

A couple of months ago, Blizzard released the second major expansion for its premier action-RPG with Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred. And based on the response from media, gamers, and fans alike, it delivered the best version of the game to date, thanks to its massive endgame overhaul, redesigned Skill Trees, improved itemization, new and surprisingly deep crafting system, and several Quality of Life updates. That, and it offers a satisfying, cinematic conclusion to the story laid out in the initial release.

And with Diablo IV: Season 14 'Season of Death Awakening' being the first proper seasonal update for the new Lord of Hatred, it introduces a new storyline and seasonal mechanic in the form of Pandemonium Ruptures born from Dark Rituals. These can appear throughout Sanctuary, where players can close them for loot and reputation, and take the fight to the new Seasonal Lair Boss.

But perhaps the biggest update coming with Diablo IV: Season 14 'Season of Death Awakening,' is something Blizzard is calling Mythic Uniques 3.0, where "every Unique can be Mythic."

These new Mythic Unique items work in the same way as Diablo 3's Primal Ancient items in that they're Unique items with perfect rolls on all of the affixes, with their Unique Powers also buffed by 30%. Blizzard notes that any Ancestral Unique item drop has a chance to be a Mythic Unique and that you'll also be able to craft Mythic Uniques using the Horadric Cube, with the seasonal currency called Pandemonium Fragments. You'll also be able to create Mythic Uniques from the Jeweler using Resplendent Sparks and Runes.

When it comes to crafting Mythic Uniques, there is some RNG or randomness, as sacrificing a base Unique item for the recipe will only guarantee a Mythic Unique for that item type, that is, boots, gloves, pants, etc. On the plus side, Blizzard is also adding the option to reroll one affix on Uniques and Mythic Uniques, ala regular Legendary items.

So then, what does this mean for all of the existing Mythic Items in the game? Well, these are changing to Iconic Mythics, so they're still in the game, but as per the Patch Notes, a lot of these are being nerfed so that they're no longer "must-have" items for all of the most powerful builds in the game. With these updates and changes to Mythic Unique items, Diablo 4's Season 14 will definitely feel a lot different from Season 13 and Lord of Hatred, so it will be interesting to see how the wider community responds to the update.
