TL;DR: Capcom aims to replicate the sales boost from the first Devil May Cry TV series with season 2 on Netflix, premiering May 12. Alongside, a new Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 is expected soon, supporting Capcom's goal to increase franchise sales beyond 36 million copies.

Capcom is set to replicate the positive transmedia effect from the Devil May Cry TV series, and this time around they have a new product ready to capitalize on the buzz.

Season 2 of the Devil May Cry TV series will premiere on Netflix on May 12, complete with eight episodes lasting 30 minutes each. This roughly 4-hour series will continue Adi Shankar's take on the series, which is described as a non-canon re-imagining of the games.

The show has significantly boosted full game sales in the Devil May Cry game series, with DMC5 passing the 10.5 million sales threshold following the upbeat reception of the first season. Capcom hopes to recapture this effect once more, using season 2 to hopefully spark sales within the series.

The publisher plans to release a new Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime soon. The game has already been rated in Taiwan, and we should see an official announcement and possibly a shadow release on the same day.

Capcom put an ambitious sales target of 50 million game sales throughout FY26, but we're currently in the next FY27 timeline, and Devil May Cry season 2 is strategically set to help boost catalog titles across the entire DMC franchise.

As of December 2025, the Devil May Cry game franchise has sold over 36 million copies, and DMC5 leads the charge with nearly 30% of all sales. The publisher has yet to announce or confirm a new game in the series, however summer showcases are on the horizon, including Summer Game Fest.

The Devil May Cry franchise also celebrates its 25th anniversary in August of this year, so we might get some teases or confirmations at some sort of summer-timed event. If, of course, Capcom has plans to do anything for DMC at all.
