Capcom increases its quarterly game sales by nearly 50% year-over-year with the help of the Devil May Cry TV show on Netflix.

Capcom just reported its latest latest Q1 FY25 results, showing strong and consistent revenue and profits across multiple segments.
The increase was driven by an uptick in total game unit sales across Capcom's new releases and evergreen catalog titles. In Q1, Capcom sold 14.167 million games, an increase of 48.6% year-over-year. Interestingly enough, nearly all of Q1's game sales were from already-released catalog games; Capcom sold over 13 million catalog titles and less than 1 million new games.

- Catalog sales increased driven primarily by popular IP
- New title units increased year-on-year, driven by the release of multiple new titles
- Street Fighter 6 was released on June 5 for Nintendo Switch 2; cumulative global sales surpassed five million units
- Devil May Cry 5 achieved cumulative worldwide sales of 10 million units driven by synergies with the newly released anime series
- Catalog sales in the Resident Evil franchise continued to grow steadily following the announcement of Resident Evil Requiem,
- the latest title in the series
Devil May Cry 5 sold the most with 1.782 million copies, making up over 12% of total quarterly sales. The Devil May Cry TV series released in April helped supercharge game sales. Capcom is adept at strategically discounting its games to move high volume sales, and DMC5 was marked down to coincide with the Netflix DMC show.
The Devil May Cry show did so well that it helped boost total franchise game sales to 10.5 million.
Capcom intends to sell 54 million games by March 2026. After Q1's results, Capcom is already 28% of the way there.
