As the games industry faces steeper costs, Amazon is making big changes to Luna, its cloud game streaming service.

Amazon's game streaming service is moving towards a subscription-only option with Luna Premium. The idea is to simplify things and reduce costs, and users can still stream a select arrangement of games via the $10/month Luna Premium. At the time of writing, Luna Premium offers 155 games, but most of them are older catalog releases with the exception of titles like FC26, Hogwarts Legacy, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Luna is somewhat of a confusing service because of its many moving parts. Before today's update, users could buy games directly on Luna and even play games they already own from other storefronts and services, including select games purchased on GOG and via Ubisoft.
Amazon doesn't really make a lot of games, so the company had to buy third-party games to make the cloud game streaming service Luna actually work. Like Google with Stadia, Amazon Luna allowed users to buy full-priced games that could be streamed on the service, but this function is being retired and the store is being shut down today, April 10, 2026.
If you did buy games via Luna's storefront, you can still stream those games through the service until June. "After June 10, 2026, previously purchased a-la-carte titles will no longer be playable on Luna," the FAQ says.
The bring your own game feature is also being retired starting June 3, but purchased games can still be played, just not on Luna. You'd have to go to each respective platform in order to play them (eg Ubisoft games would require the Ubisoft launcher to play). Those digital purchases are linked to an account and will still be accessible, just not via Luna, and apparently they can't be streamed via Luna either.
Saved data for all games will also be wiped, but you'll have until Tuesday, September 8, 2026 to download any saved data. Amazon tells users that they will also have to test their saves to see if they actually work with other platforms, which is quite worrying for people that have spent many hours in video games.
"We cannot guarantee that save data downloaded from Luna will work on other gaming services. We recommend downloading your save data as soon as possible and testing compatibility with your intended platform."
Check below for more info on what's changing with Amazon Luna, or visit the FAQ page here.
- A-la-carte game purchases are no longer available. Previously purchased titles will remain playable through June 10, 2026, after which they will be removed from Luna.
- Bring Your Own Library will no longer be supported. Games previously played in this manner will no longer be playable on Luna after June 10, 2026.
- Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions sold through Luna are discontinued. New subscriptions are no longer available for purchase, and any active subscriptions purchased from Luna will be cancelled at the end of your next billing cycle.
- Third-party game stores (EA, Ubisoft, and GOG) are being removed from the Luna platform.
If you previously purchased a-la-carte titles, used the Bring Your Own Library benefit, or had an active Ubisoft+ or Jackbox Games subscription through Luna, these changes apply to you.
After June 10, 2026, previously purchased a-la-carte titles will no longer be playable on Luna. However, you can continue to access them directly through the third-party platform account you had linked when you made the purchase on Luna.
