A new report has revealed that Call of Duty Black Ops 7's campaign will end and then immediately put players into a 32-player multiplayer experience, marking a first for the franchise.
The report from Insider Gaming cites sources that have requested to remain anonymous as they aren't approved to talk about the game. According to the report, Black Ops 7 will feature 12 campaign missions, and the 12th and final mission will be on the "Avalon" map, a map that was originally planned as a Battle Royale experience. The final mission reportedly sounds like an extraction shooter that requires players to complete objectives and extract.
Details on what those objectives are weren't mentioned, but the sources did describe the mission as "hardcore" with players only having one attempt as a group. If the squad is all killed, all progress for the character will be lost. If true, this will be the first time the campaign and multiplayer in Call of Duty will be merged together, with the report saying it will be a fully-fledged 32-player multiplayer experience.
Additionally, the move to integrate the campaign and multiplayer of Black Ops 7 is part of Call of Duty's move to implement game-wide progression, meaning player progression is happening across Zombies, Campaign, and Multiplayer. That even counts for the Battle Pass. So, players will be able to play Zombies and the campaign to unlock new rewards they can take into multiplayer, and vice versa.
Insider Gaming writes that more information on Black Ops 7 will be announced at Gamescom Opening Night on August 19.
