The reboot of the Resident Evil movie has begun shooting in Prague, with reports indicating the shooting is taking place in the city streets and at Barrandov Studios.

The film reboot is based on the long-time-running video game franchise by Capcom, and will be helmed by director Zach Cregger, known for Barbarian and the recently released movie "Weapons" starring Julia Garner and Josh Brolin.
For those concerned about how the Resident Evil movie will shape up, Weapons is garnering quite a lot of attention at the box office, along with critics and public praise for being a mysterious horror film that stands out with its unique direction and meticulous execution. Judging by how Weapons is performing, it seems the Resident Evil movie is in pretty safe hands.

As for the reboot, reports indicate it will be stepping away from the action style of the more recent films and returning to the dark, tense atmosphere of the original games. Cregger told CinemaCon earlier this year that his take on Resident Evil will be "different from all previous films" and that he will be attempting to capture what players fell in love with in the game franchise.
The upcoming film won't be retelling any of the stories told in the games, but will be keeping to the rules and world set by the game. Instead, the movie will be following a single character who descends "deeper into hell". Deadline has reported that the lead role will be going to Austin Abrams, known for his work with Cregger in The Vanishing Hour and Weapons.
